ok so when do you think i should start germinating in the springs? also i have seeds that are white and green bt not that brown color they should be, are they still growable?

i have lots of reg seeds i was gonna wait for spring but could i start germination today and grow the reg during the winter? i live in the midwest, but i think if it flowers before cold temps set in then the plants could grow. any feedback on this? also what kind of insecticide should i use and...
