08 honda owners, or those interested in buying...

Last February I purchased an 08 accord. One year and 25k miles later I hear the warning indicator on my brakes. Low and behold once I get the tires off the fronts appear brand new, and the rears are totally shot. I've gone to a few websites and I'm not the only one with this problem. What Honda has done was place there pads at a 2:1 ratio. The rear pads are roughly half the size of the fronts. So if you've been looking at purchasing this car Know that anywhere from 13k-25k miles you're going to be replacing your rear brake pads. I had an 04' and didn't even replace the front pads for 70,000 miles.

hondas last forever!
so do toyotas.

but i love CHEVY!!!!!
Man I had an 04 that I would have taken a bullet for. I could have driven that bitch through a wall and she would have ran. How do I know? I dropped her into a 5ft deep creek, and she ran continuously for 4 hours 3/4 of the way submerged until she could be saved.

i had a mint green, 92 accord sedan.... had a lot of miles, but ran brand new.... i loved that car.

That was there thing. They made a simple car that just needed minor adjustments to run like new. They're fucking up by trying to establish a service industry for their vehicles. I understand no one is buying there cars and they need supplemental income, but the whole reason why people bought hondas is because of reliability.

I've been in/around the automotive industry for a better portion of my life. Ford, Chevy and Mopar make shitty cars, end of story. Hondas and Toyotas run forever and do not depreciate in value anywhere near as quickly as the "Big Three" cars do. I will never buy a domestic again, and I refer anyone who is thinking about purchasing a new car to Honda or Toyota.

Screw Hondas get a GM !
no one wants that shitty import stuff :)
many people agree that American cars just are not reliable as some of the foreign cars.

but i think american cars are making a comeback, competition brings out the best in industries. you're seeing a lot more efficient american vehicles these days

I went from a Chevy Blazer to a Mazda. It is really weird getting in the car and having NOTHING wrong with it EVER! There was always something wrong with the chevy. Ball joints, bearings, door hinges, trans, lights, brakes, uneven tire wear, a/c. I will say that the engine was rock solid though. Despite that I really liked the car. Very comfortable but it really was a pain in the ass to own.

I have had my Mazda for 2 years and I have only done oil changes and put gas in. I am amazed that I havent eaten through a set of tires or brakes yet. I am sure I will own this car until it falls apart. The amount of money that this car saves me vs the chevy is amazing.

I was going to get a honda next but I most likely wont now that they are shortening their service intervals. I still love the S2000.
