I need to flower 6 plants at a time. Based on lighting area, would I be better off with 1ea 1000wt HPS ballast set up or 2ea 400wt HPS set up? Can I efficiently get 6 plants under 1 1000wt ballast?

for flowering i use a Hortiluix bulb,,,,, and for veggin i use a Hilux Grow its a conversion bulb that is just as blue spectrum as a MH that goes into your regular HPS ballast you DO NOT need a convertible ballast,, just a regular HPS ballast........... but the HILUX GRO bulbs are pricey but worth every penny

I plan on using fluorescent for vegging and HPS for flowering. So, is the Hortilux that much better than the Agromax?

Thanks. Just to ask, is 400wt enough for good yields on 6 plants?
You have to keep in mind that a small plant could finish flowering at 1' while her seriously vegged-out clone sister could reach 6', both tall and in diameter. The number of plants you can fit in a certain space depends on how big they are. A 400w can support 2' of vertical plant growth in about 2.5' square of floor area. Any plant parts outside of that area will need to be rotated in regularly to receive the same light as the rest, causing the light to be spread out more and less crystal to form.

9 plants, 2 ft X 2 1/2 ft closet. Single 250 watt MH/HPS, Dirt.
Generally average about a 1/4# per. Totals a bit over 2# per grow.
I still have heat issues at times. Just can't imagine 800 - 1,000 watts for only 6. :-(
My buds are plenty tight for me. Very fine quality & lots of frost.
Guess it boils down to style /type of grow and,,, knowledge?

type of grow and knowledge,,,, your room set up has a lot to do with your temps,, air flow can control your temps,, cool tubeing your lights can help control your temps,,,,, i have a buddy who dose 10 plants all 9-12 feet tal, and he uses 8 1000 watt lights in his basement, and his temps are perfect...
