1 Month from harvest - help needed.

Hi all,

This is my first grow. I only have 2 plants and it is an outdoor grow. Both plants are flowering/budding nicely (I am in NZ). I am unsure of the strains as I got given some seeds off a friend, one plant is shorter, thick and quite 'compact' while the other one is what you would call 'lanky'. Can anyone give me an indication as to why these plants look so different? I can provide photos if need be.

Also, as the cut is coming up so, are there any nutrients I can add at this stage to give the buds a last little 'boost'? The plants have been receiving an organic fertilizer dose via root drench every 2 weeks. The bottom few fan leaves have started to yellow and fall off, which I have been led to believe (by scouring these forums) is normal. I am mainly concerned about giving the plants a final nutrient injection to get the most out of them. Would it be good to apply now and then for the final 2 weeks just water to give them a flush?

Thank you if you can show some light.bongsmilie

the two plants are different cuz i would think it sounds like one is more indica and one is more sativa.. the indica will ten to be the shorter bushier plant, and the sativa will be the taller lankier one.. the shorter one should finish up faster than the sativa one...
as for giving them anything else at this point, the only thing i would suggest is one or two tablespoons of molasses per gallon of water.. you want the organic molases if you can find it.. its super dark in color..
you didn't mention if they are being grown in pots or are just in the soil.. if they are just in the ground, i wouldn't really worry too much about flushing them as this is what rain does everytime it falls from the sky..

You also admitted to this being your first grow, so I have to ask if you really know the difference between a male and a female plant. The difference in size and bushiness may also mean that you possibly have a male and a female plant, as males are usually taller, thinner, and "lankier" than the females. I love outdoor grows, hope yours turns out good. Try to put up a few photos if you can, that way we should be able to tell you easier if you have Indica/Sativa or male/female too. Good luck!

Are they surrounded by any other tall plants, One might be getting less light than the other? Are they Side by side (with a gap?)?
Pictures are the best way for people to determine what, why and how =)

PICS =)

Hi there,

Thank you so much for all the responses. Definitely the information I was looking for. Thought I would put up a few pictures to show you what I am dealing with. At the being of flowering, I studied both plant thoroughly and came to the conclusion that they must both be females, however I could be mistaken. The shorter, compact one is without a doubt a female, however the lankier one could be otherwise :( I did not see any of the 'pollen balls' that get mentioned when identifing the sex on the lankier one, so I assumed it was a female and didnt seperate. It is producing nice flowers, but not in the same compact fashion as the other one.
I am growing in pots and both plants are about 2.5 feet tall.

Thanks once again for your help, I hope these photos are good enough.bongsmilie

Both plants have had the same water scheme, are in a position that receives the same amount of light and the lankier of the 2 does not have the pollen sacks as mentioned earlier. Is it even possible to get an Indica and a Sativa seed in the same baggy? I also noticed during germination that the shorter compact one had a more predominant main root, and this plant (the one on the right in the first photo) also started flowering first and therefore stopped growing in height quite abruptly, when it was always larger than the other one during the vegetative cycle. Now the opposite has happened, and the lankier of the 2 (the one on the left) is now significantly taller than the other and therefore I think will finish it's ripening phase a lot later than the smaller one.

Thanks.
