is it ok to set ur timers to 10/14 at week 7-8?

goal: save power and trigger the finishing process. (speed up ambering)

Ive always wanted to know the answer to this question. is it good to simulate what a real winter would be like? less light/colder temps at the end of flowering?

No, I am not. I have seen it tested on this forum but I think he did it for a whole grow/flower. You get almost 2 extra 12 hour dark periods per week this way. The yield was supposedly down ~25% over a whole grow and electricity use was down a bit more.

I think if you could pull it off, a week of this at the end of a grow could really help speed up the ripening without affecting yield much. Similar to the way an extended dark period for 3 days before harvest does.

i would try it.. couldn't hurt i don't think, im also going to put my plants in 3 days of complete darkness before i chop them

lets just stick to the 10 / 14 issue first
For 3 grows i fucked with diff cycles..the 10/14 was good..so was the 11/13. FOr last week i tried a 6/18 and noticed resin increased. After all that trial and error i run a 11.5/12.5 LOL i found the yield suffered with the shorted times..only reason i quit doing it.

11.5 / 12.5 really lowers noticeable yield vs 12/12?

No thats all good...theres no real reasoning for that other than my own convenience. I meant the shorter times 10h or less. Yield wasnt terrible..but noticeably less. My bad for not clearing that up in the first place.
