Is a 1000watt HPS too much for my wardrobe closet? It's 48" Long x 20" Wide x 60" Tall... I also have an Easycool 6 Reflector connected to a 6" Inline 250 cfm can sucking exhaust out the light from inside the wardrobe. I also have another 6" 250cfm can sucking fresh air into it...

the 48" x 20" is fine - it is the 60" i am worried about. if that is 60" plant growth you will be fine (that is pretty close to my box and i'm using 1000w) but if you are looking at 60" total - you have to subtract the light and the plant leaving you with what? 2 ft of growth? don't think that is enough room for a 1000 watter.

LOL!! i dont think a 250cfm will cool any 1000 light...

and you only working with 60" dude? man why so big? go with a digital 600

im mad at that tho!!! lol!

you see that email?

his measurements are close as hell to mines!!!!

lol man isnt 1000watts overkill for 20x48?

im running 4 trays (each 16x9 ) total measuring 20x38.5 ....with digi 600..will make adjustments as i go along....but i think 1000w would be over kill with only 20inches diameter!

can't really say too much - i use 1000w and my space is not much bigger. my impression was he had two fans - one 250 for the lights and a different one for exhaust - that should keep it cool enough.

my concern was the height didn't give much room for growth (considering you should keep the 1000w light about 18" away from the tops of the plants).

ive worked with the 1000 in similar situation with an extra foot of height,i found i had to put into flower at 10",i then switched to a 600 and lost about 2oz in yield, but i raised the sides and almost got the same, but the lower buds were not good,so both will work but i would use the 600 with raised sides like a coloseum.if you have both lights run the 600 for the first 5 weeks in flower then the 1000 for the last 3 weeks this works great.

my fans (i use a 350 CFM for exhaust and a smaller one for the lights) are very, very loud. I can't hear the ballast, air stone, hydro jets - nothing with those fans screaming!

If you are concerned about the noise, i would buy the "quiet" version and mount them using rubber washers or bungies.

quiet version ? never herd of it? can you get me a link or a specific name thnx

i have a "Stealth" setup and i wanna put in a 400 w hps so i was wondering how loud the fans would be to cool something like that... would like 50 cfm work ? considering a 400 w cooltube only has 1-2 ft of air inside

i would ask the forum for their experience with quiet fans. my fans (EcoPlus) were advertised as quiet - if that were true - i'd hate to hear the noisy ones!

Sorry for the long delay on the reply... I just measured again and I have about 70 inches of height. I'm gonna be buying a brand new hps and ballast, so I was mostly wondering if I would be better off spending the extra $40 bucks on a 1000watter versus a 600... I have 2 250cfm 6" In line fans, and there really not that loud. I plan on hooking one up to my light as exhaust, and the other as fresh air. Would this provide sufficient airflow for my whole closet? It's all vented outside.

thats a tough call, the 4 feet is just on the boundry of the 600 thats 1000 perfect range, but the 20" is tight, that will be overkill, really if i had the money i would het 2 400,s but i understand cost is an issue, you can pick up used 400 at shops for 60 dollars.as for the 250cfm,that should be good if you have 2,but then filtering the air that goes through the light and the room air will need to be adressed.

you know if you feel heat wont be an issue and you have the resources for a 1000 it will provide results, but make sure you have cash to tweak it if need be.but if money is an issue do not get the 1000 because it might cost you money to get the room right.

How many plants will you be growing? Its not only the $40 bucks now but it will be another 400+ watts each month of power that might not get used it you are not growing enough plants.

What are the temps in the room on a norm day?

And for the noise from the fans try some Dynamat. I use this stuff and it deadeds the sounds quite well.

I was hoping to grow atleast 7 plants, honestly 8. I doubt I will be able to accomidate even that many. How many do you guys think I can fit in that space? How many plants could I do with a single 600? Or a Single 1000? The Temps in the room now running 6 26w 1600lum & 1 42w 2700lum cfls around 85degrees. dark its running around 75. It's only running that hot because I haven't had a chance to get my other 6inch inline in yet, theres just a flex 6 tube going outside, with no fan yet. I have the other inline hooked up sucking fresh air from outside the room.

As fas as the deadening, I already have a bunch of Second Skin Audio Damplifier Pro. It's way better then dynamat. I've used it in many car audio installs, its simply awesome stuff, and a slight amount cheaper then dynamat. I plan on Putting a layer of damplifier inside my cabinet, over all walls, back, doors, floor, roof. Line the whole cabinet with Mylar. Then Cutout my 6" Exhaust & Fresh Air Flex Tubes, Install my 6" Inlines, 1 Sucking Out After my HPS Light, the other with the fan blowing inbetween the lights and the pots. Both Fans are 250 cfm.

I use a 600 dig hps/mh in an area of 6L x 3w x 5xh as this is my first grow and my hight limitations I'm using the tiedown method and or start flowering (clones) with only 7 days of vegging. The mother plant is 6-8 months old.

Ok- so My hps system takes 6-8" right of the get go, then depending on the size of pot that you will be using, lets say 6-12". So now you have 12-18" from your 6'. You will probley need any where from 12" to 24" from the top of the plant to the light. so lets recap- 8"+12"+24"= 44"(high side), 6"+6"+12"=24"(low side).
So from your 6' you will only have 4' of growth or maybe only 2'4" of growth. Now this was using my 600w system so I would think that using a 1000w would reduce that figure.

Now with that said if you use 6" pots you could get 4 pots in ever sq', so 3 pots with your 20" width= 18", by 6 pots with your 48" length. to get 18 pots. This will be somewhat snug.

I don't if this info helps you make your choice. But I had to make the same decision and I went with the 600 dig system.

I guess it depends on what you need out of the op.
