Hi Hodge,
Thats a very impressive garden you have. I love the way you pruned them to be massive round bushes.
I am going to try that next grow. Can you give me an idea of when you started topping and how much?

Also, if you don't mind, can you tell me what strains respond best to that type of pruning?

Thanks.

These are not topped, just growing natural. I grow mostly Indica strains which are short stocky bushes.. 6 feet across and 6 feet high... If I were to have gotten these in the boxes by the end of April? They would be 2 feet taller..

Thanks all for the kind words. The 1 plant that's in full flower is the Medijuana from Amsterdam seeds. Main cola is full of crystals and it's still July? While it's a hybrid, I'm going to continue to breed it back for future grows to keep this strain. While I may not grow it myself, I've had some interest in her from others..
My grape ape is also somewhat of a dissapointment, suppose to be a 5 plus pound yielder but I expect around 1lb from this plant? Weather was weird this season and I didn't put 100% effort, so I'll try her again next year, depending on her smokability. (is that a word?)
Purple power, Crooked prairie and White Queen are my top growers and have proven to be very likeable in the smoke dept. Do have a Hi-Jack male and female that I'll pollenate back so that I may enjoy her next year, slugs ate most of these starts but did get the two. Only grew 1 Hawaaian skunk this year, (have plenty of seeds) so I'll have her to enjoy in the future.

Hodge, I have been giving my plants Maxsea 2tbls per gal, 2 times a week, & I'm still getting some yellow leaves. The older-inner leaves are yellowing. ?????
It's got to be N def., more Maxsea?

Peace

Nice garden there my friend. I love the round bushes. I would get a coat of spinosad and potassium bicarbonate on those girls. Put spinosad on now and K-Bicarb at wk 2-3 of flower and week 5-6 to prevent mold/fungus/budrot. It will turn the pistals brown in the area sprayed but will kill the fungus/mold and the spores. Gotta like that!

JJ, This time of the year the plant is starting to go from veg to flower, she's using the nitrogen. Even were you to quadruple the dose, she's still going to produce yellow leaves. Do you really want those MONSTERS bigger? lol I'm starting the 3-20-20 tomorrow.

Hey GT, will be going to Reno (son will) for the hot August nights and will pick up some caterpillar killer. Can still get the extra strength stuff there. read your pm on the potassium bicarbonate and do I spray that in the evenings also?

yea the potassium bicarb is definitely something you want to spray later in the day. would give all your ladies a nice crisp'n if you sprayed them mid day.
I sprayed it late in flower and it did burn the pistils a bit but didnt affect taste or buzz. the PM never wants to take a hike for me so I got serious and got some Eagle20 fungicide. definitely only want to spray that shit in veg, but no signs of PM since I sprayed it about 3 weeks ago

plants are lookin amazing tho Hodge and looks like youre going to have some nice early buds to puff on while the others finish ;-)

Ah, I get it. I guess I never see indica strain grow to full size out doors.
Thanks for listing the strains you are growing in a previous post. I think I am going to try that purple power next year.

Yea what notoriousb said. If you use 1 tsp it should be alright. You can test it out to see what affects the pistals. THe concentrate I have read is from 3/4 to 2 tsp/gal. Most of the commercial applications are around 3/4-1 tsp/gal. I would spray it now or within the week depending how far they are into flower. Do it following the catrerpillar killer application. I does not affect any thing except make some pistals brown but if you spray it now there arent too many out. I try to concentrate on the stems for the bud rot. Once those buds get dense it will be tough to get int here.

Thanks GT, the only plant that's far along is the Medijuana, she should finish in about 4 maybe 5 weeks.First time growing her so I'm unsure. Called my cousin to get the pollen so I can keep her going for another generation. Not a big plant but she's early and covered in tricolms...

We grow the same strains for the most part.

Good morning all,
Today's a feeding day, (bloom) and I found the first caterpiller yesterday. Was found on the medijuana which is the farthest along in flower stage. Waiting for son to bring back some Safer caterpiller killer from Reno today, then it's going to be applied to the other plants. The medijuana will be watched and hand picked since she's so far along into flower, not a large plant so shouldn't be too much work? Got the pollen applied to 3 branches on her so don't want to loose her to pests. Did also have my good friend Nuggs pollenate his medijuana so we'll have backup with seeds.
Will try to get some pics posted today, plants are stacking but not alot too see yet..
