12-1 light schedule test

Hey y'all. Here is where I am going to document my experiment with the 12-1 light schedule. What is this you ask? Let me explain.

This is a lightning schedule that is used by experts in horticulture that deal specifically with short day long night flowering plants such as cannabis. It is primarily used to cut energy costs and that is exactly why I am willing to experiment into this hands on. It is also said that buds will develop and ripen faster using this method which is another positive. We'll see.

This info all came from an article in Skunks latest issue. The writer claims that a 12/12 schedule isn't the best way to flower cannabis because it is not short day long night period lightning, adding weeks to the bloom time and lessening bud girth.

The article claims further that 12 hours of light for bloom time is waaay overkill. 50% to be specific.

So following exactly the directions in the article my veg time will be a total of 7 hours and bloom will be a total of 6! Here's how it works:

The first twelve hours of the veg cycle will be 30 min on 30 min off, with the second twelve having a 1 hour break in the middle (5.5 off, 1 on, 5.5 off)

The bloom cycle will simply be 6 on, 18 off.

Any questions/info is welcomed. Haters hate on. Etc. This won't start for a couple weeks as I iron out some things first.

@RM3 anything that you want to add to the "gas lantern lighting" thread, be my guest. This is for everyone. I feel that it is a very important part of the movement moving forward to keep costs down and minimize waste whenever possible.

Ok,so this is why people say hid bulbs burn out fast.......thinking to myself..

And maybe why the 12/12 came along?

Hope this thread keeps going.

I will be using strictly cxa3070 COBs once I get the project underway. 3000k +UV for flower and 5000k for veg. Also the test run will include the bodhi nepali meds and ssdd that I just ran to see if they act differently under the new light regime.

I veg plants year round in a sunroom using six five watt LEDs on a 1 minute every two hours night interrupt schedule. I've even reveged some stubborn early plants. Never messed with it in flower. You just need something stronger than moonlight. No need for hids on the interrupt timer
