12/12 Cfl Saucecup grow

I'm setting up a cabinet but until that's done i've got a old baby diaper box that's about a foot tall and a foot wide. on top i've got a shoe box with holes cut in the bottom so that the lights and power cords stay in the shoebox while the lights poke into the diaper box below. will post pics asap so you know what I mean.currently I have a T8 12" 418 lumen fluoro tube and two 850 lumen cfls. not very much light, but I feel confident. only problem with box is that it's cardboard.. this is a temp box i'll definetly need to watch it with lights on 24 hrs to make sure it doesn't get warm enough to scorch anything.will lst the hell out of it, get ready for the ghettoest grow oh the soil container was going to be 1 oz like a contest I saw on this site that was pretty awesome, but i've got a slightly bigger (2.5oz?) container i'm using. soil will be whatever I get my hands on in the next few days.

i've been germing for a day now.. I was blazed when I bought my lights and got a replacement tube for my 8w desklight which is a 3000k and a four-pack of soft whites that are 13w with the 2700 spectrum. combined so far there are 2060 lumens inside.. my question is, if growing on 12/12, are cool whites really neccessary?someone help out, I've searched the forums and since the t8 bulb is dimmer I was just going to take it back, so if I need to I can replace these too.let me know asap, thanks

I put plaster on the corners to lightproof and put it in a better area that isn't sketchy. my internets off until after the 1st so I can't upload pics yet. seed is germed, getting soil asap. merry christmas.

nothing special going one here. seed germed and was planted today. here are a few pics of my ghettoset and pre-node seedling. the boxes are behind a covered up computer chair in my room; light is only visible if you pull a guitar, cat post, chair and blankets out of the way and pull the box for the wall. sorry for the phone pics, my internet's still off. that little white dot is my plant, and everythings riding on her so hope she's a she!

Ill help ya brother.. not to sound rude, I would say ur hiding it from som1 such as parents..Well its good u wanna learn the art or mj by growing but bad u should wait to git ur own place..But 4 your questions, you are gonna need a bigger pot but im kind of undecided because there's a guy on here doing it in a Dixie cup so som1 else will answer..But the 3000k spectrum on cfl's isn't a good pik at all u do have to have 2500-2700 light spectrum but that's for when you flower but right now ur vegging ur gonna need at least 100 watts of 6500k CFL's..And for the soil your gonna need sum decent potting soil at least if you wanna get the best for ur plants.. U may wana et som PH strips to chek the PH levels of the soil it should be 5-7 in reg. soil..Hoped I was of help brother peace

I'm moving into my own place in a few months, until then things will be fine. i've seen shot glass grows, and since I am only growing a small plant for myself I think this is okay. I used a shot glass to fill it up and it took 5 full, but I feel like this is around 4 oz.and lights, I know I know. my tube is gone, it wasn't very brilliant in light and killed that tiny ballast so I'm returning the 3000k tube and maybe the 2700 bulbs I have. I'm doing 12/12 from seed so i'm only vegging maybe a week or so.. just until baby peeks out some. I know I need some blue spectrum bulbs but I won't have those for another few days. this could be it or I can add on more, whatever happens, happens.

just got back from the local wallyworld. managed to get a cheap thermometer and two daylight 6500k 20w CFLs that are 75w replacements. the bulbs are bigger than the others and put out 1150 lumens each. I saw a 43w 10$ cfl of the same make (General Electric), and was wondering if those were good for flowering? the ones I had in there were13w and I'm getting Y splitters but I feel like i'd have to run all four for popcorn buds. the 43w is in a single and pack of three, but I was once frustrated again baked in the light aisle when I couldn't find the color temp on the box. it said general purpose and had a red trim on the right front corner. my better judgement leads me to think that the red line means red light but I didn't get it because I couldn't tell. help anyone? also, my store only has low wattage cfls. up to 26 I think, but the 26's looked cheap. will my bulbs get the job done? I unscrewed my reds and put the blues in just now. when doing this I knocked my plant off the riser not thinking my plant was in there. the soil was moist so it was like a sand castle and the seedling looked fine. small roots exploring soil, and leaves should open with these bulbs. turned green and the fan across my room circulates floor air so my window's air drops around the box.I dropped her.. I bet she's pissed.. like shaking a toddler..ramblinghope everyones sat is going good

the sprout is .5 in tall and temps inside the box at the top is 90 degrees. I'm still trying to get fans but I'm mostly at home at night so it gets opened and fanned. I put a ice pack in a freezer bag and put it inside, but I doubted this would work so I took it out. it should be fine once some distance is made between the lights and the pot.

according to the cheap thermometer it's 90 degrees in there.. feels like 80 but either way, I need fans.

it sat in the sun today. root was poking through the top last night so it's been growing slow.. surprise surprise I mamaged to knock it over again. soil sucks too. I'm picking up new stuff thursday, so if this one dies i'm germing another and starting around 1/1happy new yearthis sucks

No significant growth has occured in the past five days. she's fallen twice, my cat ate one of those seed leaves (sepal?), changed into better smelling, fluffier soil, and may have been cut again by a fan, idkthe first set of spikys came out, but remained like 3mms long turned dark green and fell off. now it looks like more shoots coming out, but I won't know for days. I bought a survival blanket from wallyworld earlier, 2.88 and I'm should be getting more stuff(bulbs, y-splitters) thursday or friday. I've been trying to get an old pc from someone to convert and use the fans of so I'm not putting the survival blanket in until I get the other new stuff. she's already so stressed out I know it, but I'm hoping she'll forget it, rebound from the conditions and indulge in her fresh soilsigh. I'm going to start germing another seedling just in case. these are all bagseed btw, I only save from good bud. I'm unsure what the soil is, as I got a unmarked gallon ziploc full from someone. they said it was a fresh bag, and the soil is definetly better then what I had to throw in there while I didn't have anything better.during daylight I've been putting them under the sunlight when I'm in my room and it's bright out, putting them under the cfls when it starts getting dark.. 7am-7:30pm.the next days will be boring. i'll let you all know what's up soon.reed

i wish u luck I have a feeling that you dont have enough experience to manage a full grow, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt and you can show me what you know. Just remeber all the knowledge required for a successful grow is right here on RIU, so good luck and dont let anyone criticise you remember all you really need to grow a plant is soil, water, and light, or course its not Ideal but mj is a pretty hearty plant and they are some what simple to grow. I hope everything works out good for you, oh yea when they are done mail me some lol.

haha, thanks man. i'll post some new pics when I can, I just hate using my phone to do it as you cannot see any detail. i've definetly got the know-how, but it's just a matter of if they can come to term or not. I'm working on turning this into a micro pc setup, in which case this will be easier. apparently, however, my mother and father were experience in indoor/outdoor back in the 80s/90s and my mom keeps asking me if I'm growing saying she smells my 5 node plants.. I doubt it but so far the only problem seems to be prying eyes, interferors. that mailing bit, haha.. ehh

What a pain in the fucking ass

I just 'finished' my first pc box. can anyone give me any tips on mounting my cfls?i have one plug in socket and one socket with a long cord attached. now since I have one timer, these are plugged in the same extension cord. i'd like them to be sideways. I have two computer fans I wired that when parallel were too noisy, pushing a lot of air fast. so I wired it in a series circuit so the voltage would be split up(slower fans) but am afraid to leave it on in risk of fire because it turns on and then turns off after a second before resuming. I have a emergency blanket on the inside.so here are my questions:-how do I mount my lights?-does wiring my fans in a series circuit leave me with risk of a short? electrical fire?-does anyone have any effective light traps? my fans are located on the back in the regualr fan space.PLEASE help me out guys, I hope to get this resolved by the end of the day. it's all pretty neat except for the mounting of the lights. i'll post pics if they don't fry today. days 24 and 17.

okay so I believe today is day 33.. my nets back on and I have pics it's just a matter of if I want to smoke in my room murking on LIVE or play journal on the computer.. all is well, the saucecup baby, I named her Aaliyah, today before I left(noon) I checked her out with the magnifying glass.. I pretty sure I saw some preflowers at the top and some at the leaves on the nodes.. I stressed that one a lot the first few days, hopefully it doesn't hermie out.. Janis, the clay pot she never really got stressed and has a bigger pot, so her growth was much quicker and she's a little longer in length then Aaliyah. no preflowers but very healthy. Finally, Farrah is the oz cup grow.. stunted, terrible. started when Janis did, I assume because of the burns it sustained in the old box. they have been lsted only about two weeks now, not really any form and kind of ugly, not making new apical tipd either.. woody stems about as thick as a little slim jim.. the fans move a good bit of air however yesterday Janis grew into a light I had to raise which i'd still like to know a better way to mount.. smell is like clean clothes in my closet since I made a flat carbon filter with carbon in the midde, the blue filter from a fishtank filter, and dryer sheets on the outside. fans are almost silent, you have to hold your breath to hear them with the door open and your head inside.. the fans dry out the plan much quicker.. I plan on buying a much higher quality warm white this week.. they've come far for almost no wattage..so a few questions remain:how can I mount these lights better than hanging to a piece of coat hanger? -should I buy a screen? is it too late to scrog?-should I stop trying to lst if there are preflowers so I don't stress it?-should I make covers for the soil so it doest dry out so quickly? that's my only problem.. thirsty soil everyday.. get off at 6 and lights are on 7-6:30 so it's a rush to water.. invest in aqua globes?

I don't know much about growing but this is funny and concerning at the same time. You certainly are game. You get the bug for buying stuff for growing. Please don't burn the house down. I am looking forward to seeing how it ends up.

haha I don't know if I should take offence or rejoice for a person interested.. all is fine, no flames here. just a hobby grow. can't build a garden for berries, mustard, onions potatoes etc right now. so I may as well just grow something for medication, right?

ah, lucky me. fate called out my name today and blew out one of my daylight cfls, and since i've been meaning to get a high watt warm white to throw in this first week of budding, I now have to. I currently have the plants under a 20w daylight and 13w soft white. I have to get to the store, and stat. FUCK
