So you epoxy the cob holder to the base of the heat sink instead of drilling and screwing?

In this case it's glueing the led stars on to the frame, the aluminum tubes will act as the heatsink. But yeah, no drilling and screwing
Thank you for sharing your neat build and information, Netherfly. How much time had passed before you took the temperature of the holder? My main concern, is that I dont know what average temperature a 40w heat sink is going to be. Your cob may dissipate 35ws, but at about 60% efficient, only 14w of those are heat. So it is difficult relating to the issue., and understanding what temperature level they are going to give off. THanks again

here are some heatsinks for people who are on a low budget, just like me.
I paid 2,49 each , got them from servershop24.de
They look Alu but infact the base is red copper, in the middle aprox. 10 mm thick, they weigh 650 gr. each.
They come with a alu casing with is ideal for handling and drilling the heatsinks. they protect the fins.
You can remove the casing when finished.
I will put a 80mm fan on them but its possible to bend them for passive use.
They meassure 83x90 mm, height is aprox. 65 mm.
The square in the middle is 58 x 58 mm. i allready predrilled the holes for a ideal cob holder for my 3590's.

I don't think the temperature will ever exceed 40/42 degrees celcius, even with 23.5 in the room it's below.
Everything was done with the ventilation in the tent still @ the lowest setting.
@VANNELLE nice sinks, damn that's good money for heatsinks of that material and weight!

I'm gonna try far reds too. With that control board and relay you can make it pretty cheap and i like cheap things which can eventually lead to bigger yields.It's time to get into far red

Im looking at starting a 16 cob build with 3590s running at 1050..... Im wondering how many watts are you pulling from the wall with your build?

looks great my plans are same heat sinks from cutter ,, tho great build i think for some its much cheaper to find the square tubing drill holes in corners and every where use butterfly nuts so you can actually turn the lights might be a good idea
