referncing the article, there should be a peak ing of the 2 arcs
if curve a represents the amount of red light required to produce the latent chemical and
curve b represents the amount of darkness required to convert the most efficient amount to active, then
the conjoining of those arcs would represent the perfect dark period for plant x
...um yeah

edit: i veg/auto 24/7
i flower 12/12

Defensive much?

No I don't subscribe to plants need sleep, so you're mistaken on that, too. I veg 24 hrs and do autos 24 hrs. If my plants want more than 12 hrs of dark somebody will have to convince me it has merit. Maybe I don't "understand" the effect of light deprivation. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Maybe someone will come along who has some scientific knowledge instead of just anecdotal beliefs.
whatever.. sounds like some malarky you'd subscribe to.. picking fights over an avatar.
What else was I mistaken on? "mistaken too". You should stop and re- read what I wrote. You are making yourself look like your "lawyer" wife married below her status.
Just because you and others may be ignorant of the effects of light deprivation and it's effect on MJ doesn't mean I need to explain it to you..nor do I care to waste my time trying.
good day.

I do this too.. 10/14 for the last 3 weeks... It will speed up the finish on your plants by about a week.
My nugs were big and tight.. different style of growing, but I am sold that it makes a difference. I also do 48 hours dark before harvest. This is only because light degrades THC. If you have no light degrading the THC already in the trichs.. the plant will continue cranking THC out until it recognizes that it doesn't need ot put out as much.. MJ usually can adapt to things very fast.. 3 days is about all it takes. I'm at week 6 of flower on Wed.
I read an article in a hightimes once and some grower said he "shock ripens" them. Much like you described, the last 3 days he gives the plants complete darkness and cold water. He says it adds weight, flavor, and an increase of resin production in his buds.

Have yet to try this but sounds like you have done pretty much the same, I shall give it a try as well with the 10/14 light schedule.

violator kush - indica
strawberry cough - indica dominant
kandy kush - indica.
Sorry bro, but none of those strains are pure indica. Violator is mostly indica with some sativa from the Malana parentage. Kandy Kush is a cross of OG and Trainwreck, both of which are hybrids. Strawberry Cough is 75% sativa.

I highly doubt 100% pure anything come outta seed banks anymore.. While you are absolutely right- check my sig grow... I'm growing my own crosses at the moment. All these strains are bred with bubba kush... Since I'm growing indoors I have tried to isolate the indica phenotypes... I didn't feel the need to get into it with the bird man... But you are right to question my comment... I didn't clarify I am growing crosses.

Cannabis plants make hormones in the darkness which they use to grow buds. They build up enough hormones in the 12 hours of darkness to last them through the 12 hours of light because the light degrades the hormones. The concept is, the more hormones they can make, the more bud development will happen. Extra darkness, in theory, is like steroids for plants. Extra growth hormones.

I liked the part where op thinks two hours of light change for one night made 50% of the trichs go amber and all the pistils turn.
