150 watt distance

My 150 watt hps is going to be here tomorrow (ordered online) and I plan on starting my grow tomorrow about how close should I have the light to the plant? Also want to ask about watering how much water should I give it? Water it till it runs out of the bottom of the pot? It's a auto flower going in moisture control MG soil! Thanks for any feedback

okey for HPS u need 6-8feet away due to heat....as for watering, water it till you see 30% is runoff. Put ur finger in the soil about an inch if dry, water the plant, if not wait couple days/.

My grow room is a little less then 6 feet I will also have a fan in there to help with the heat

You dont need 6-8 feet. My mini cab is pretty small. Check out my journal.

I keep my 150w about 4 inches away from my plant. But for you id go with 8 or 12 inches away until it was big enough.

^^^^WTF 6-8feet? Its more like 6-8 inches from canopy level. When I was using my 150w hps, I went bare bulb since heat wasn't an issue to get the most out of it.

You can drop it real close once it establishes itself. Depending on heat and if youre using any type of air cooling you can get it about 4-6 inches away.

yea, 6-8 feet is pointless... just raising your electric bill for nothing, also doing basically nothing for your girls. Keep it about 8-12 inches away and use a fan to move heat away from canopy. As for watering, its all up to you. Waiting for runoff is kinda a lot for me cause you have to wait a few days before watering; if a deficiency arises and you need to add nutes, then you have to wait until the soil is dry so you dont overwater. If you can water everyday or every other, then about 20 oz a day will do. That way you can add nutes when needed. I ran into a N deficiency and couldnt tend to it fast enough due to the soil being too damp. And of course you can add more water as it grows; and seedling need very little water for the 1st 2 weeks.

Ok so before you stick any plants under that thing hook it up and stick a thermometer under it for a hour at the height that your plants will be. Raise or lower the lamp till you see the temp you want under the light. Once you have that figured, then put your plants under it.

Thanks for the info I really appreciate it! I have read ALOT but not to many people talk about the 150 watt hps systems! I'm pretty new to the growing experience but I have smoke plenty of bud in my days! Can't wait to get started and get the hang of things!

6-8 foot from 150 HPS ??? What a joke

Try 6-8 inches (for 150W Hps) if there is small fan blowing into the light.

I keep my ganja garden under 600 W HPS at about 12" with 8 inch fan blowing into the cooled hood, but no glass.

Glass will take away at least 10-15 % light. I believe it is better to move away plants off the light a bit if too hot, than use a glass or cool tube.

Exemption, if you have nice even SOG or Scrog then it might be beneficial to use glass ant get the light as close to the canopy as possible.

I think we can just chalk that up to being high, haha. Like 5.5-7.5 feet to high.

Thanks for the info every bit helps I'm very new to growing with only one plant under my belt and that one didn't go we'll AT ALL but I have learned one thing keep your plant away from a cat! Completely ate it over a two day course!!! Little bastard is a mini me
