Bigeasy how do you like the auto seeds? How do you so the light schedule on them? And how long from seed to harvest does it usually take? Thanks again

Auto's are great especially if you're a personal stash grower and have limited space. Here's the deal, if you have limited space but want a perpetual grow, which means steady stream of grass, then auto's are the way to go. I grow in in a metal garage cabinet that measures roughly 6 foot high, 18 inches deep, and 3 feet wide. I germ a new seed roughly every 4-6 weeks. Because they are auto's I don't need to fool around with light schedules. My LED has been running nonstop for almost a year on the exact same 20/4 schedule. By doing it this way I always have a steady and fresh supply. There's all kinds of auto's available so you get to experiment without over complicating things. The bottom line is that I initially spent way too much money on shit I didn't need. Be aware though that in my cabinet if I germ the seeds any closer than 4 weeks I will run out of room. My auto's get big. Also, I don't keep my cabinet shut. I leave the doors cracked open about 4-6 inches with an oscillating fan in front. Normally I don't need to be incognito but if somebody comes over, I can button it up in less than 30 seconds. As far as lights go, if your goals are similar to mine, get a good LED and be done with it. My LED grows nice, very resinous and tight buds from start to finish. I grow in soil though. I started out in hydro but that was just too big of a pain in the ass for my lifestyle. With hydro you have to babysit it too much. With soil I can still take my weekend trips and my plants don't give a shit. Everything is on a timer and automatic. If I didn't have to water them, I literally could leave them alone for probably their entire grow cycle. Easy but with good results. The lazy man's technique! lol

Oh, and usually around 75 days from when they sprout they're done. Some take longer, some take slightly less but 75 days is a good rule of thumb. When done properly you can get 2 ounces per plant pretty easily or at least that's what I'm getting. Sometimes a little more and sometimes a little less. Sometimes 3 ounces. Here an ounce is well over 325 bucks and I figure it usually costs me maybe 60 to grow each plant including the bean, dirt, nutes, and energy.

EC/ppm meter is a must, they are cheap now, got mine for less than 10 bucks.
No... just no.

Don't tell him it's a must when it isn't.
I know tons of people who grow without them and have beautiful grows. Unless he is going Hydro which is already said he isn't he doesn't NEED it.

Also Soil is good, but I still recommend going with Roots Organic Soilless Coco Coir, I guarantee you'll have less issues with it.

LED is nice and all, if you want to save power and less heat issue. Although so far unless you're getting a super duper expensive LED, HIDs are proven to grow better.
There is really no overflow of information going on like people suggest.

HID
Soilless
Tents
Fans

It doesn't get simpler than that. I wrote a good list of what you'll need for any grow let alone your first. Take it with a grain of salt if you want, but you'll just end up spending more money along the way going super simple and finding out you're running into issues and need to buy stuff on the fly.

For every new grower I recommend 1 plant, 1 light and a soilless mix. Start with the basics - learn a ton. Save your money for when you understand the basics and are ready to expand. You will learn about light cycles, plant growth, nutrients, humidity, heat and cooling etc.

That sounds like what I need to do then, I have a busy lifestyle and enjoy my weekends away so soil it is. My goal is to have a few oz every month so I like your set up. Do you have any fans or carbon filter or anything? Or just the light and the pots? I'm going to go big and get the area 51 led for 575. It says it is reccomended for 32x32 area so I'm hoping to have like 2 different autos at a time and try a perpetual harvest after a few times for a steady supply

Can you clone autos? Or is it best to just start from seed every time?

I just have an oscillating fan setting in front of my cabinet. I don't use any filters. The smell from one or two plants hasn't been really that strong where I need to worry.

No you cant clone an auto. Before you just jump on auto's(i run both) no matter what strain you pick its going to be weaker than the photo of that strain bottom line. To make it an auto its bred with rudarallis and no matter how much you back cross it still started out with alot less thc.IMO If you want easy you can run any seed at 12 hours and after 3-4 weeks it will go into flower with close to the same quantity but a better smoke. I grow my autos in my veg area just so I can justify using all 600 watts on the little girls why they grow up.

Ckeck this closet grow with leds. He might be able to help you.https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/755206-vertical-scrog-led-closet-grow-7.html#post9936586

Vertical growing, wall of weed which is vertical scrog, feeding Kiss style, and coco hempy buckets...

Enjoy the massive amounts of weed you will produce if done correctly...

actually it's basically impossible not to do it correctly if you read some threads which a google search would bring up.

I definitely think getting the new light from Area 51 is a smart choice. Its one of the best lights on the market. A lot of people get disappoint with LEDs because they buy crap not because LEDs don't work. Also - it can be run in a 130 watt (veg) and 190 watt mode. Lighting will always be one of the biggest factors in quality of the grow.

Those Area 51 panels are no joke. Good for a 2x3 area. By the time you have fans and other shit in your tent you'll prob only use that large of an area anyway, assuming you're using a 2x4 tent...

So what kind of tents do you guys recommend? And what size for the area 51 light? It says its recommended for 32x32 but can do a 9 squad feet area max. 2x4? And how. Tall? I want like two auto flowers in it to start. And what/how many fans and what carbon filter? Sorry so many questions

Hey,

just to say what extraction system you use will be based offa what size tent you get.

Just so long as you get enough air movement, or can replace all the air in the tent within a couple of minutes. E.g, i had a 105mm TT vents fans(think thats the make) , plug and play , in my 1m squared bit. And went up to a 150mm for my 1.2 m squared, it was too much, was pulling the tents sides so much that it started to make holes along the seems! So dropped down to a 125mm but kept the 150mm ducting and she works great. (Note. the larger ducting also reduces the noise levels as opposed to a small diameter ducting.

also (if your set on a carbon filter) you simply need to match the extraction fan to the size of carbon filter. Or vise versa. I dont use carbon filters.
waste o carbon imo. Just me though. In fact you could probably get tent, extraction fans, ducting, carbon filter, hps and hydro system in a oner then you know the fan will be the right size for the tent. (Roughly)

for example....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Best-Complete-Hydroponic-Grow-Room-Tent-Fan-Filter-Light-Kit-400w-80x80x160-/111173415582
As you can see the 100 mm fan would work fine for that tent and light, i would advice going up a size of fan if you went up to 600w for example.
but then as you are going LED you could porbably get away with a lower cfm rated fan. Also, a little clip on fan is very very useful. E,g.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180mm-7-OSCILLATING-2-SPEED-CLIP-ON-FAN-GROW-TENT-OFFICE-DESK-HYDROPONICS-/140937801278?pt=UK_Baby_Baby_Feeding_Bottle_Warmers_Coolers_LE&hash=item20d08c2e3e

anyhow take it easy and best o luck. Let us know what you decide upon.
