150w hps Light Shutting Off ) Any Help? Please!

so my 150w hps with built in ballast keeps randomly shutting off for a couple min or up to an hour or two. when its off it wont turn back on so i unplug it for a bit then try again. usually it turns back on. when its unplugged for a while it makes a "click" which usually means it will turn back on for me when i plug it back in. it always seems to happen when i open my tent. im thinking it could be the ignitor in the bulb. i just wanna know if its my bulb or ballast or whatevvvvv...

most hps unless it is a conversion bulb have external ignitor and when a mh or hps is shut off it will not refire till it cools off never started it without waiting 5-10 minutes

as for why it is shutting off check all wire connections for loose wire and if bulb is old might need replacing

its pretty new about 2 months. all the wiring inside the ballast itself? could it be its just getting wayy to hot?

is it one of those security lights that is sealed unit with glass if so then i would say yes it is getting to hot and u need to remove the glass

naa theres no glass. i rigged a computer faN blowing into the ballast. its going ALOT cooler now i think its good

well what u can do is get some wire and remove ballast and ignitor and make it remote outside of growroom then it wont get as hot
and will also keep gro cooler that way and if u need help to do it i can link u to a diy thread on it

hey. ive had the same problem with a 600 watt. It turned out to be that my timer couldnt handle all the power(600 hps + all my accessories ) i had a 400 and a 600 plugged in and it would randomly shut off and turn back on when they were both plugged in. I unplugged the 400 and havent had a problem in over a year.
try it with out a timer if that is your case.
