17 days in- how do I look?

Hey everyone.. wanted to post some pics and get input on my progress. The attached pics are 17 days since sprouting. Using 5 42W cfl's at 6500k spectrum temp. Average temp in closet is around 74°. The pencil you see in one pic is an effort to lift the foliage up tad to get some light to underlying nodes.

Basing this grow off the "Buds for Less" book, so soil is at 80/20 MG/perlite with water pH balanced to 6.8.

How am I progressing? At this point, my main concern is that I'm going to run out of space in my makeshift grow closet. Also, at what point should I add some 2700k bulbs? Thoughts?

looks good man, im a newb to all this, but somethign looks wrong...? only saying this because im using only 3 42 watt CFL's (one daylight the other 2 reg) it may be because i put them in my small greenhouse for one full warm day, but this is what i have 3 1/2 weeks in (Both are missing one branch each):

+ if i remember reading correctly, you shouldent use tinfoil only because the flaws will cause the light to reflect strangely causing burns to your plants. (Wish i could quote a source)

Hey Moosehorse.. thanks for the tip. Haven't experience any strange burning from the foil, but I doubt using it does much good. Short of any complications, I'll probably leave it just because it'd be too much of a hassle to remove now.

You appear to be about a week ahead of me... it also looks like you might be working with a different strain.. I'm pretty sure the darker color of mine has to do with strain more than anything. This was taken from bagseed and the bud was dark. I'm really trying to avoid over-watering and shoot for a 10-day cycle. That would put my next watering at 3.5qts on Wednesday.

variance in leaf color can be strain related. As long as the plant is all one color it really shouldn't be a problem. Nitrogen def usually shows in the lower leaves more than it does in the upper ones, causing the plant to have two colors of leaves.

Mostly the plant is the same color.. the lowest/first set of leaves seems a little darker, but certainly nothing alarming. It's hard to imagine there could be a nitrogen deficiency considering the perlite is nitrogen enriched.. but maybe so.. who knows.

yeah were growin diff stuff, im growing "Pink kush" im sure its just purple, but the shit it came outta, kablammow, came to my area from calgary, alberta about a month or so ago, good stuff.

and as for watering, goto a dollar store or somewhere and invest in the water meter as seen in my one photo, i paid 4.99 and its my best investment, i could NEVER get a plant growing and this is my first time ever getting this far haha.

I also use mirrors in my grow space, as it really does help reflecting ligt onto my plants, as if im using 2x the light, or if i get tricky, put a mirror facing a mirror n have a tunnel of lights, haha.

But the overwaterign thing was always my prob, i water every 5-7 days, but i always mist them in the mornign with water or sometimes water+ bloom nutes.

I lost a long post on my thread today also, but I did see a note that the sites being worked on this week-end. Paste your text somewhere else until it's posted so you won't have to re-do it. I use Reflectix tape and also reflective insulation to keep my cabs cool, but mostly to keep the light out. They are Rubbermaid and when the room is light, inside the cab is light. Another reason for Reflectix (I've heard) is that cops can't see through it with their radar crap. All in all, I'm a foil chick because of the added light and it keeps the dank in much better. Don't take it down!

Moose, did you check the directions on your bloom nutes that you're spraying? Most of them say not to get on plants. I neve get food near my leaves when watering.

Well I just want to start by asking why do you use Miracle Grow?? If its working, well
good luck further into your grow.
Your plant(S) look good to me. You can add 2700 bulbs when your ready to flower. Just keep this FYI in your head; You should veg. your plants for at least 3-6 weeks before trying to flower. This gives your babies time to mature. I mean you can grow straight from seed at 12/12.. but your yield won't be all that good.. and most plants don't care if you do start them from seed at 12/12. They are not going to flower until they are good and ready. And again as far as CFL lights go. Here's some more FYI:

CFL Bulb growing
Vegetative Cycle - You want the 26watt (at least 100watt-150watt equivilant) and your want the Daylight spectrum. More lumens the better also! :)
