no it wont work....they sell MH conversion bulbs that will work in a hps ballast..

Do you know where i could buy a 70 watt mh for an HPS ballast? I havent been able to find them...

i dont think they make conversion bulbs in that size. But you should look on ebay. Type 70 hps conversion

lmfao those clf lights are ACE i been reading more buds for less some guy had just over 3 oz using clfs his cola came in at 15.7g so who says hps is better its crap just make sure ya clfs are close they dont burn the plants they could be like 3 inches aways this books called.....

Thats not the point......Cfls are fine if in close quarters... but u need lots of the bulbs...its just not practical to have 20 bulbs for a few plants. I"ve used cfls for my first grow and had good results..but once i got a hps, my yields have become larger, denser.

Yes, CFLs are good for a small space... but you don't need 20 for a few plants... more like 10? Lol

In my experience, cfl's gives too slow growth. If your using hps and don't get better results than cfl's, you're probably using the wrong kind of bulb. I had the same problem. I bought a $20 bulb. It sucked. I invested in a $100 bulb. The difference is amazing. I thought hps wasn't much of a difference at first too.

the guy in the book uses 6 clf's.... 15.7 top cola......

took him 75 days for it.... blue dot and mango... out of it all with 6 clf's he got just over 8oz

to be honest i use both a fluro + a mixibright enviro light with red spec my plants are so bushy and they stink... only babys still...

ya 10 if they're high wattage.....i had 14 26's for 3 plants under reflectors...still didnt get as dense as my hps grow of less wattage

I see. What did they use in the Buds for Less book? What watts?

Well, i think another part of the reason my plants are stretching and/or budding early is that i just found out the fert im using isnt 20-20-20. its got more phosphorus and potassium than nitrogen. ive read that you want to use 20-20 20 for veggin and lower the N and raise the P and K for budding. However, i did get some 20-20-20 and i'll start using that from now on, and see if that helps any.

But i also think it has something to do with the light because ive tried getting it closer to them to stop them from stretching and if i put it any closer, they burn. it just seems kinda difficult to grow with a light that burns them unless theyre far enough away to not get good light.

But whatever the case may be, we should get off of this thread and start a new one or find another one, because this thread is mainly about CFL's, not HPS or MH. And besides, I told u im only growin with what I got cuz its my first grow. Dont be hatin cuz i dont have the light i want. I would rather have a CFL, to be honest. Ventilation's not a prob, but i dont want lights that can burn my plants.

I have a 250 wt hps, with 4 plants under it. to be honest, these 17 days of flowering under cfls, look exactly like mine that are 29 days under hps.

Just to set the record straight, some ppl only have cfls to work with, shit man give em props for the nice plant they have growing.

it's so funny how far off topic some posts get, and the whole bickering about HPS vs. CFL...do your own thing....don't talk shit about someone else's choice....i don't have the money for a HPS setup, that's my reasoning, but if i did, i would just by more cfls, cause i can make my light setup, as custom as i want.....don't rag on people for doing their own thing...please. Were all people..nothing more, nothing less.

I think its because people are saying cfls are better than hps, and it continues with your post.

CFL's are only better when you have a few of them, you can't put HPS all around a plant, now can you?

I have an HPS right in between my two flowering plants.
