so im about to start 18 pot o golds in a 4x8x6 using a 400watt HPS. im thinking of going with foxfarm nutrients or
Cal-Mag Plus

Sweet
Liquid Karma
Pure Bend Pro Bloom

last time i got about 1.5 oz OUTDOOR on the POG's of somewhat dense and fluffy buds. not as white as i would have liked, but they kinda glistened like they were melting instead, in which ways could i increase weight and "whiteness"

outdoor last time nutes :
liquid karma, sweet, sensi grow a&b, bud blaster and i think one other one

I take it your 18 plants are gonna be kept small... because letting 18 plants get to a decent size will not work out very well under a 400 watt light. I have 8 plants under a 400 watt HPS and they will probably be 3 feet tall by the end of flowering. Trying to fit any more than that under my 400 watt HPS and the plants on the outside won't get enough light. You can see pics in my grow journal. The link is in my sig.

i see what you mean, well we were thinking about doing sea of green, but honestly i dont know if it would actually be worth it weight wise. thinking about setting up 3 rows of 6 plants, and A LOT of mylar, going to be setting it up in cone like shapes around the planting area.
here was the outdoor POG we did.

I dont think a 400 watter can cover a 4 x 8 space.

Thats like 20 watts per foot, the bud from the plants would be very sparse.

Just do a SOG of clones in a smaller space, like 3x3

You can get a LB from it if done right.

ya, u gotta rethink some stuff. Not enough wattage for that space. and too many plants for a 400w. Get a 1000w and problem solved.

If you aren't going to up your wattage you might want to look into a light mover on a rail system

I will have to agree the 400 watt will not be enough for your big space. Can you do more lights. If your trying to do the whole 4 by 8 then maybe 2 400 watt would work for now but if you want a good yield then bump it up to at least 2 600 watt HPS....Good luck

this is just a suggestion but im telling you if you put two 1000 watt hps in there your gonna have some major bud. trust me it would be worthwhile with the electricity and everything....
good luck whatever you do

I have an air cooled 400 watt hps. My configuration allows me to grow 18 plants in a 4' x 3' area. I do a perpetual grow rotating plants in and out about every 2 weeks.
I veg them to between 20"-24" before flowering. The trick is to put the new plants on the outer edges of the perimeter and raise them on small platforms to keep the canopy at an even height. As they develop they are moved closer to the light. The plants that are finishing are always directly under the light. I am about 4 months into this configuration and it is working amazingly well. I guess if I was to try to flower all 18 at the same time I would have to come up with a system to rotate the plants around or use a light mover or the outer edges would not get the same light as the ones in the center. That is my two pennies.

well, we have decided to do a 6 plant rotation every 2-3 weeks. i think i might do what tommy was saying and have the outter plants be on platforms and rotate them inward.

I am NOT using the entire space, i was thinking about maybe 4x5 of the shed. but one end of the shed is going to be housing for the resevoirs, pumps and c02. as soon as we get started next weekend ill post some pictures.

eventually we will be adding another 400watt hps, unless you guys really think we should go with the 1000, we would have a 1000watt but our friend sold it to someone else instead of us =/

how does a light mover work, it just goes across the plants like real light? whats the pricing on this? would there be an increase in weight/mass?

Its a little motorized sled that moves back and forth across a rail. It will allow you to have your light cover more area from a single lamp.

Honestly it sounds like you should just get more light. Even with a light mover you're not going to have as much light as you would like to. Maybe consider only doing 6-12 depending on how lager you want to grow them.

im still not sure about good nutrients, i being a medical patient have seen a lot of high quality cannabis, and the stuff i pick up from the clubs are really frosted in trichomes, what causes this? is this the strain or nutrient problem?

is that pic above the pot of gold? looks like ducksfoot/abc/or maple leaf indica with the leaf pheno that its showing...or does pot of gold grow with the same kinda leaf pheno to ?

yea thats pot o gold @ about 7-8 weeks of flowering. my friend grew a mother from a seed he bought online and made clones, this was one.
Im not a complete noob with growing, but what is leaf pheno? we noticed the leaves were kinda curled so we flushed it after these pics were taken

a pheno type can be anything...blueberry pheno = taste of blueberrys, ducksfoot pheno = leafs webbed like ducks feet, sativa pheno = tall, thin leafs....that kinda thing.
there will be somebody that might be able to explain this to you better than i can or in more depth.

but i am sure p.o.g. dont normaly have webbed leafs like in the picture.i have got a pack of ten that i will be popping early next year, hope some of mine show this leaf type.

so duckfoot pheno is good? why? you explained it well, i also googled it which helped a little bit.
yea the outdoor plant got 35 grams each of 2 pogs, im hoping with the 400 watt i can get about the same, last time i did indoor with hydro i used the "rain forest" and they had some smalllllll cups for i think it was 18 plants and they only like like 7-10 grams per plant (purple kush) after the 8 or 9 weeks of flowering using a 1000watt and a 400 watt.

i know this is kinda hard to answer, but about how much do you think i could harvest of dried buds with a 400 watt hps, for 6 plants every 2 weeks. after a 8-10 week period. going to be using foxfarm soil, sweet, liquid karma, and either advanced nutrients, or cal mag. (not sure what nutes i want to use this time) i used sensi grow a&b, big bud, and bud blaster and got 35 grams per plant outdoor.

mmm, about that medical question with the crystals...when i got to smoke some pot of gold it was GLAZED!! Nutrients and proper cure really bring em out!
