1st Attempt Main-lining 1x Pineapple Chunk 1x Amnesia (feminised)

Word up Sirs and Sirettes! I am currently trying my hand at main-lining a feminised Amnesia and a feminised Pineapple Chunk. Both had been germinated from seed over 6 weeks ago. Although originally intended to be an outdoor grow, a series of freak frosts put paid to those plans damn quick (and nearly killed the Amnesia - but with a little TLC she bounced back badder than ever!). I moved both of them under 2x 20w CFLs (6400k) and 2x 90w fluros (2700k and 5900k respectively). After 4 weeks I re-potted into 20L pots with a mix of soil, perlite, peat moss and blood n bone - at 5 weeks I began to main-line the pair of them, topping both of them from 6 nodes down to the 3rd (VERY hard to bring myself to do, but all in the name of progress!) and removing all growth besides the fan leaves at the third. I also tied down both emerging nodes as they grew out - snapping one of the Pineapple Chunk nodes in the process! However, a bit of gaffa tape and in 3 days it was not only healed, but a beautiful knuckle had formed to deliver even more goodness to the main! Unfortunately, due to the exposure to outside, spider mites decided to make themselves a home in the pots! A first application spray of 50/50 metho/water was applied, followed by a Neem oil solution two days later. Both were applied 5 days ago and so far, so good! 3 days ago I topped the mains again, resulting in 4 mains per plant. As todays shots show, they have a few more days before I can attack them again for the next topping. I currently plan to top the Amnesia for 8 even mains, while the PC apparently has a bit of stretch to her due to a bit of Sativa mixed in her genes - so the Pineapple Chunk will be topped again to take her to 16 mains. I've also kept the tops and trying an old cloning method leaving the cuttings in opaque cups of water (to minimise the amount of light getting to the roots) just to see if it works. Next cuttings will be done with clonex, rockwool and a humidity tank. Will post again next cutting time... take care all :D

Good to have ya' on board Red! Shit, it's not even summer here in Australia and today reached 36 deg C (97 deg F) but the babies are all good - a cement floor with a raised timber base are keeping airflow good and the heat in check! It's a good practice run as I've never had to grow during summer before. Lucky it remains good and dry, despite the high temps (up to 45 in mid-summer!). I dropped by the bunker to give the girls a well-deserved drink and release the ties for a spell until I top in a couple of days. Couldn't resist taking a few snaps to show how well they've responded since the other day. Burning an offering to the weed gods now... Flipside, gents and gentesses...

Wow main lining right out of the gate. I will be watching this one! Good luck!!
Yup... no rabbit about me mate, that's for sure! It's all just an experiment anyhow, so I figured I might as well push my luck - the more I fuck-up, the more I learn so it's all one big win-win ;D

So, here are those pics that I snapped yesterday. It's a bit cooler today (thank fuck!) with a nice balmy rain setting in for the arvo. On the Amnesia, there were a few spots which can be seen on the fan leaves I removed in these pics - looked like calcium deficiency, but it was also after being blasted by the metho mix and the neem mix. Getting some dolemite lime to keep on hand... just in case. Haven't been to the bunker today - as with every newb, I have this urge to constantly hover and check over the girls. Gonna' maintain, smoke a bowl and wait until tomorrow - could be tipping time at the zoo!AmnesiaML2.jpgPineappleChunkML3.jpgAmnesiaML1.jpg PineappleChunkML1.jpgAmnesiaML3.jpgAmnesiaML4.jpgAmnesiaAndPineappleChunkClones.jpgCactusFlower1.jpgOh, yeah... the last is an ugly bunch of cacti which erupt in spectacular flowers only once every year and I managed to get a snap of that as well. Have a sweet day, stoners :D

I have never seen a cactus grow such pretty flowers! Im wanting to main line but im a big puss so I will live vicariously through this thread! Lol.
The girls seem to be liking the process man.Leaving them alone seems like the hardest part. Lol I wish my plants werent in my freaking bed room. I get an erection every time my wife opens the closet door... Is this normal?

Sorry to be dragging the chain on this one, but I had a major hiccup last week when the caretaker at the bunker got blind-rotten-drunk and decided to inspect the plants - effectively crushing the frame and smashing the fluros directly onto the girls, while the clones each copped a CFL directly on top of them. The drongo then went to bed without fixing the damage - having promptly forgotten the mayhem he inflicted as soon as he left the grow-room! I was fortunate enough to follow a gut instinct and drive out to the bunker, thus saving the house from going up in flames... Anyhow, after some serious frowning, pruning and plenty of TLC, the girls have bounced back - those thick, juicy ML'd mains are holding up to the damage really well. However, the pineapple chunk looks to have lost 2 of its 4 mains as they were seared by the fluros beyond any chance of rescue. The amnesia lost 1, maybe 2 of its 8 mains. I don't know how the salvage will go in terms of continuing the mainlining on the PC, but at least she's still kicking. And what a stench!!! As for the clones - they were a charred mess and I seriously thought it was GAME OVER. But perseverance has paid off again as new shoots were seen 2 days ago which have now grown out into perfect sets of leaves - Kick ass!!! No photos of the devastation I'm afraid - I saw the carnage and went instantly into survival/fix-it mode. Next checkup, I'll get some snaps... PROMISE!

AmnesiaML1.jpgAmnesiaML2.jpgPineappleChunkML3.jpgPineappleChunkML4.jpgPineappleChunkML1.jpgPineappleChunkML2.jpgBTW... I did get some pics from a couple of days before cyclone dickhead hit the grow-room. Oh well, I'll continue to keep on it until the fat woman sings a sonnet! P.S. does anyone know how to drop to another line in these posts? My ENTER buttons don't seem to do shit. Thanks in advance amigos!

hey u seemed to have grasped the concept well. 36c eh that's hot lol. Good luck :)
Thanks a million LGC - whether I can continue to mainline properly after this trainwreck remains to be seen though. At least it looks like the clones will pull through, so if worse comes to worse I can mainline those little tarts and keep the originals as mother-plants... for more future ML madness bwahahahaha!!!

Well... busy day running around like a blue-arsed blowfly. Ended up at the bunker on my way home and what a beautiful sight greeted me - both mothers and clones have survived with gusto! Last visit I administered a Yates kelp veg-grow diluted at half-strength into the water. Today - the light canopy had to be raised due to the rapid growth! Here are some shots of the Amnesia and the Pineapple Chunk before todays pruning and LSTing. It's hard to impart just how much of a charred mess they looked early last week... Well, after a bit of mental wrestling, I figured that I've come this far with the mainlining, why stop now? After some heavy surgery, I managed to get 7 out of the original 8 mains on the Pineapple chunk - what a bloody trooper! Letting them both grow out for a couple of weeks without any stress really helped things I reckon. And as for the Amnesia? She's been through a near fatal frost, spider-mites and aphids, and now Cyclone Dickhead - and she still thrives! Half of her was near-demolished and she was originally due to be topped for 16 mains, but due to the damage I had to take her back to 8 mains (yet again...grrr!!!) but with 2 mains that have a lot more length. What to do with them I wonder?

With a lot of left over foliage to play with, I decided this time to forgo the water method and go with a trick a horticulturalist mate of mine told me a few weeks ago - I spliced the cut-off stem and after soaking them in water and squeezing out all of the air bubbles, I dipped them in honey and potted them straight into my soil/b+b/perlite/peat moss mix and foliar-sprayed them with ph neutral water (shaken the shit out of for good measure!). Here are my next gen soldiers of fortune. Note the monster Pineapple Chunk - it's all an experiment, after all! NewPCandAmnesiaClones.jpgTheBigPCClone.jpg

And as for the original clones? After clearing off the burned mess a few days ago, I had little hope until I checked a couple of days ago. Now look at 'em both power back like true champions. The PC is in the closeup...PCandAmnesiaClones.jpgPineappleChunkClone.jpg

Well, been a very busy couple of weeks amigos. Got married :D Moved house. Had to do a stealth mission to relocate the grow as the landlord's daughter turned up unannounced at the bunker and busted the grow! Got a new job and just finished re-topping and defoliating the remaining girls. All of the old clones were lost due to transport issues, but I salvaged my two main plants and the original 2 clones. Just yesterday I topped the 2 clones to begin their mainline journey... and just look at the main stems on these 2 fuckers - they have bounced back from their 3rd degree burns to step up to the ML plate. Game on!
