Day 88, day 47 of flowering
OK I just friggin lost everything I typed, so here (lucky for you) is the short version.
My plants have really started yellowing in the last 10 days. At 1st I thought it was normal, but now I'm not so sure. And to say that they started yellowing is...well...they're about done yellowing really lol. There's not to many leaves left.
So I don't know if somthing is wrong or that's what happens when they are almost done.Either way its no big deal. I've got some nice buds. I took some samples and dried them for a week. The smoke was excellent! In every way!
But these plants got real ugly looking real fast. All yellow and getting brown and dry. The fan leaves are ALL gone, from ALL the plants. And I just want to know if its totally normal or if something bad going down.
They are still pushing out white hairs though. So the buds have been growing during the yellowing. But I have no clue what my Ph is and they are is kinda small pots, and I am a newb, and well...Check out my pics, I got some fuzzy buds . You can enlarge the pics in my gallery for closeups.
Thank you for looking and for any input. :peace:

Nice bro, did you harvest one early to try different effects of the bud. Didn't know if you were serious but in one of my threads you said you were gonna try a early harvest on one of your plants to fell what the difference!!!

Oh and as far as your yellowing, have you been giving it nutes.? Have you been/started flushing? I would have to say that if you have been flushing and its still yellowing then the reason is because the plant is using the extra nutes in the leaves to finish off. I don't have that problem yet but my damn hairs won't go amber. They are pretty much all white still (56 days flowering).

Ya know your right I was going to do that but....I've been taking samples, and letting them dry for a week. They have been smoking really nice:mrgreen:.
I have been looking at the trichs, but thats not helping because I don;t have the experience at it. I see some clear, some cloudy, and some amber, depends on where I look.
But I will say that they seem to be finishing strong. I've got probably right around 50% white 50% amber hairs right now. Makes it easy to see the new white hairs, which are still popping out strong.
As for nutes...I shut them off about a week ago. It'll be water and molasses from here on out. Some very good reading to be had in the organics forum about molasses. If I can find the post I saw, i will have to share it. Organic growing is the way to go!!
#6 is tentatively scheduled to be cut down next week so stay tuned. I'll be putting up more bud shots this weekend.

Yeah I have started flushing myself, along with some blackstrap molasses. This stuff works great. I cut off a baby stem that had about a gram worth of bud on it to give it a taste, man I'm so excited. Couple guys at my job can't wait. Hopefully it doesn't take that long.

I saw this in the organics forum, written by Ohsogreen, who seems to know a thing or three.
"First use only unsulphured molasses, like Briar Rabbit or Grandma's Molasses (brands). Mix one ounce to one gallon of chlorine free water. If you only have tap water, let it set for two days & 99% of the chlorine will evaporate. Then you can add the molasses.
.
You can bubble (oxygenate) it using a cheap aquarium pump & air stone for at least one day. Or just pour it from one clean container (jug or bucket) to another a couple of times a day, for at least two days.
.
This provides extra oxygen to the good micro-beaties, they then eat, mutiply, & kill off - the not so nice micro-beaties. The longer you oygenate this mix, the more good guys you end up with. Their eating & pooping out the NPK (bioconversion) is what make it highly soluble. Over time their bioconversion reduces the N and pumps up the P & K slightly. Not a big shift, just a point or two.
.
This makes a good growth stage fertilizer (that's cheap).
.
Just mix it light the first time & water in lightly - like one quart per plant.
Start low & build slow. This prevents overfertilizing.
.
Use this mix one week & plain water the next.
.
You can add nutes to the mix, but remember your adding to a mix with a NPK of about 5-1-3 already."
This is NOT what I did but I sure will next time. I just added 1tablespoon to a gallon of tap that sat out 3 days, and a capful of hydrogen peroxide and shook it real good, then dumped it in the pot. I was also using miracle grow during veg and shultz big bloom for flowering, like 1/4 strength doses every other water. I'd like to do an all organic grow but I used what was easy and available.

Day 95 day 54 of flower.
I got that scope at radio shack and I've been looking at trichs for days now. I'm getting a good handle on how the trichomes look on all 6 of my plants. 9 & 10 are not there yet (mostly clear). 7,4,& 3 are real close (some clear mostly cloudy). And #6 is hanging upside down in a dark corner (mostly cloudy, partly amber, with a slight chance of showers).
I been smoking samples off these plants all weeks and I'm serious when I say that I got some damn good shit to look forward to and plenty of it. Yee Haw!! :joint: bongsmilie
6 has been probably the weakest plant all along. I expect the smallest yeild of them all from this one but not too bad for a 1st harvest. Especially since I've got 5 more bigger ones still to chop.

Day 99 :blsmoke: Day 58 of flower, and day 2 of hanging lol
Thats right. 3 & 4 are hanging. After an 6 week veg, and an 8 week flowering, the trichomes said it was time. I'd say 85% cloudy, 5% amber, 10% clear. 7 is next, any day now I think. 9 & 10 want another week for sure. Lots of clear trichs still.
6 is almost dry. It shrunk and feels really light now. Another week before I cut and weigh it. But the smoke is great!
3 looks magical. Totally awesome.
They seemed to change things up a bit hear at RIU. You can't access the picture gallery from the thread page anymore :(
The 1st two are #3 the 2nd two are #4. You've got to see the close ups in my gallery. Totally awesome!!

excellent work man, youve shown me that i need more lights in my cfl setup if i want lush buds like these. make sure you let us know what yield you get from em!

Thanks. That's what I've been telling everyone....more light, less of everything else. Stay tuned for final yeild and analysis.

Have you started curing the first one you chopped? What's your yield guesstimate on that one? Oh yeah, INCREDIBLE CFL GROW!!!!

Yes #6 was put into a jar yesterday. All 21 g. of her. And I did smoke a bit of her previously as well bongsmilie
I'm extremely pleased with the quality. It smells and tastes strong.
I'm thinking 6 was the smallest so the other 5 should yield at least as much. 3 & 4 should be ready to cut and weigh in a day or two.
3 more still growing. I think 9 is done, but the buds on 7 & 10 are still growing. 7's buds are growing buds lol. Its getting all lumpy! All trichs are looking cloudy. I'm just waiting for the first signs of some amber.

That's awesome. So you might get close to a half a pound all together? You've done a hell of a job raising those plants and this journal has been truly inspirational. If you do another after this (didn't you mention something about LST for your next grow?), I'll be following it carefully. Thanks and :peace:

Day 105, day 64 of flowering...I think...
I'm just checking the trichomes everyday and pouring straight water on em. This whole time I've been waiting for Murphy's law to kick in. But its almost a done deal. Which means ( I guess) that this is the perfect time for something horrible to occur. Something like...oh...say...Bud rot! yeah budrot
I was doing my daily inspection. I decided to grab a bud on 7 and give it a little pinch to check the density (these buds are crazy big) and i pulled it away from the main stalk a bit. Then I saw something brown. It looked like a mass of brown (red) hairs. I pulled another bud away from the stalk and saw the same thing. Shit! Its fucking moldy! This is my pride and joy this plant #7. The main cola is friggin huge! Thats part of what led to the budrot though. That and small dead leaves that couldn't fall off because they were trapped inside the buds. What a bummer.
So I had to chop her down (she's bout done anyway). And had to cut away all the nasty moldy parts. I'd say between 10% & 20% of her.
Lesson learned.....Dead leaves inside of huge buds=bad things.
On the lighter side of news today....
3 & 4 are going into jars tonite. I'll post some pics later too. :peace:

Bud rot, that sucks. What do you think caused it? Too much humidity?
Noo definitely not humidity. I run a/c in that room. Humidity is steady at 40%. It was caused by lack of experience lol. I let the ph drift out of range. Thats what caused the early yellowing all my plants had. The leaves went from yellow, to brown, to dry and then fell off or I pulled them off. But there were some (small leaves) that were buried inside or in between buds. So the old dead leaves that were hidden in the moist nooks and crannies of the buds got moldy.
The bottom of the cola on this plant was 3inches thick. It looked fine on the outside. I'm just lucky I happened to pull a bud away from the stalk to see that shit.

As for the Ph.
My yellowing prob I was having....Well, after I cut down 3 & 4, I ran 7.0 water through the pots and collected the drainage. I tested with my new Ph tester Digital pH TESTER pH600 Aquariums/Reef Tanks/RO Water - eBay (item 180269739858 end time Aug-04-08 18:00:00 PDT) and it read 5.8.
So... there you go. Thats too acidic. Thats why they all went yellow at the same time even though they were all different strains all on their own flowering routine.

At least you know what the cause was. I'll bet knowing what you did wrong and learning from your mistakes is probably one of the most important factors in becoming an outstanding grower.

Sounds like you're still gonna get a decent yield from "old #7", so that's cool. :peace:
