All looking good btw.

Oh ... would you happen to remember (I have to write it down ..ha), when you made your soil, what price range was ? Do you think you could have done it cheaper ?
I eventually I want to go in that direction

Looking good man, nice setup and grow you have going. Subbed.

I also added silica on my last grow, be careful with it. I ended up doing some damage to one plant using to much of it. The bud leaves appeared to be disintegrating, it was weird, thought I had a pest at first. The silica will make the plants cell walls tougher and more resistant to pests which I am guessing you already know.
Here is a pic of the silica damage I had.

I didn't make my own from subs recipe, instead I bought TGA's already mixed super soil. So still subs recipe, I just didn't have to mix. The hot soil (the super) it is around $35-$40 a bag (1.8cu ft) in area - so it's definitely not cheap. I simply didn't have the time to let homemade soil cook, so I bit the bullet.

Finally making some time to put up some newer pics. These were all taken a couple of days ago, on day 23 of flower...

The ice plants are really starting to live up to their name. Can't wait until these girls are ready!!

Looking super healthy! Good job man.

Pic 4 looks like possibly silica damage, but I wouldn't worry at all if it is. Mine was way way worse and they still snapped back as healthy as ever...

By the way, have you got to smoke any of your crop yet?

Yeah, I wondered if you had fed any silica yet. Thought I would mention it, it looks similar to what I saw.

I was out of town but have been sampling the crop tonight (and trying to take notes). So far I like the GDPxHarlequin the best. It has a ripe papaya sweet flavor but with an earthiness that lets you know it is medicinal... Very potent as well in a balanced way. Unfortunately, I didn't take a clone of this one, it was the lowest yielder... Might start a seed from a cross to this, I did get about 25 seeds of GDPxHarlequin X GDPxHarlequin.

The CBD Crew plants need a good "sober before taking a hit test" on each before I can say. The Sugar Plum is a smooth up high without paranoia, very functional stone with great flavor...

Sounds like you're enjoying yourself :) smoke a bowl for me my friend.

Well, lights just came on and I went to do my nightly inspection.... I found fucking spider mites. Looks like I get to fight them too... any tips for me since you successfully vanquished them from your girls? My fear is getting shit on the buds.

I haven't actually looked at all the plants super closely yet, but i only saw them on two leaves and on just one plant. Found about a dozen mites total. I'm sure there are plenty more in hiding though. I'll be scoping them out later tonight after dinner.

Day 23 is a tough one I think. You are on the edge as far as using stronger solutions. I think you maybe have a week to use high strength stuff like azamax, spinosad, etc. Look into mighty wash if you want to keep any residue at all off them. I would probably do azamax, wait two days, spinosad wait two days then do a neem drench and hit with habanero spray. I also did a pyrethrin root dunk for root aphids but I think it helped with the mites too... Those organic chemicals will mostly if not all break down by the time you harvest.

I have recently discovered mites in my veg room. They are tough bastards to eradicate!!

Do you think that since I found them early I can just hit them with habenero?

OH BOY,,,ROOT APHIDS????? That pyth drench is only the first step in eradicating those mothers! They have to be the end all do all of the hardest thing to get rid of!
Right now I'm 20min late getting over to my grow. Give me some hrs and I'll come back and give you the real lowdown on how to get rid of them! You will find that if you don't run this 4 way method,,,,they'll be back!!!!

When I first spotted mites I thought I had them early and used diy organic methods. They came back stronger.
I'm not saying it won't help you beat them, just take it seriously. Treat all plants as if they are infested.

A good pump sprayer is needed if you don't already have one. Buy yourself about 15 habanero peppers cut in half and drop into some water kept at a simmer, do not boil them. Simmer for 20 minutes let cool and bottle it. I save the left over peppers in the freezer to add to the next batch. This is enough for two treatments on say 10-15 medium plants. I use half the mix in 2 litres water with a couple drops of soap. One of my early mistakes was not making the water hot enough. If you aren't choking and coughing when you apply it it isn't strong enough.

Rotating treatments is important so you will need one or two other products/approaches. 50/50 ISO/water with soap also kills them.

Dr. Who, I am all ears on taking care of the RAs. I have heard some horror stories!

Hey cannacove, hope you dont mind me sharing some details about the RAs in your thread.

I discovered them about 5 weeks into flower. I put some strips of duct tape down sticky side up to see how many I had. It was about 200-300 within 48 hours on the tape. 100% certain they were/are RAs with the "dual exhaust", no flyers though. I did a root dunk with bonide 857, rosemary oil, and soap. I didnt see a RA since (doesn't mean they aren't there). That was almost two months ago, I dont have any plants in the garage/in flower right now.

I have a new batch of supersoil cooking in the garage where the RAs were. Starting to think maybe I shouldn't use it?

I am going to go put down duct tape in various locations right now to see what is still crawling around.

Ok so how much water to use when I simmer the peppers? Then is that a concentrate I mix with more water or just use the water they simmered in?
