same buddy who had me trim the roots, has an LED light he said I could borrow. I ask if this is necessary?

I was really hoping to just do the aerogarden but haven't ruled the LED out.

What do you all think about flushing the water. I am following the fox farm hydro schedule. Have read some posts that say don't worry about flushing and some that do it weekly. What ya think?

Change out the res weekly if you can, get the LED, and run that with the Aerogarden Hood and you should be good, take some pics of the light.

Alright, well buddy was suppose to get me the LED and pump this weekend, but let’s say he is a bit lazy.
Anyhow, today is day 23, and we started the week 3 feeding schedule, thanks to fox farm.
They are bigger, and very different. It seems the seed that germinated in the aerogarden, is a lot wider and thicker than the seed germinated in the paper towel. The seed from the paper towel is a little shorter and more compact.
Feedback is encouraged and welcomed. I did notice a little nuet burn, but she already seems to be recovering

anybody have any articles or threads that show how to top the plants? My aerogarden is extended the full length, and about to go into flowering. These are short seens (green-o-matic from greenhouse seeds) but am worried there not done growing.
thanks!

Day 30

Today I flushed the water and did a fresh batch of nuets.

Below I added some pics I took this afternon. Since my age isnt spot on (for noobs to the thread check the begining), I decided to skip forward 1 week in the feeding schedule. Today I started week 5 of the fox farm hydro feeding schedule.

So there you go, as always feedbacka nd comments welcome from all.

I am starting to have some concerns, and would like some input.
1) I should have the LED light of my buddys up and running in the next day or so. Is that enought light for the two plants, or does it need to be used with the aerogarden grow lights?
2) I have read a few articles about topping my plants, but still dont think i fully understand it. I am worried I will mess my plants up. Tips, pics, advice......please
3) My plants are not to be much taller then 14 inches (according to the Greenhouse seeds), but they dont seem to be slowing down. I have the light as high as it will go in the aerogarden, and were about touching. In the pics above, the ones where you see the dark tips on the leaves, I think might be from touching the lights. It could be nuet burn, but didnt show up untill 6 days after the last nuet flush.
4) Is it bad that roots are intertwined?

Thanks again guys for following this journal, I am loving every second of it and hope it turn out well.

yes that will be enough light. Get that LED going asap, they're getting really tall because they're stretching, the AG stock lights are good for herbs or whatever but when you're growing marijuana the plants will need more light.
you could look into LST if you dont want to top, either way it should be good.

You dont have to do an extreme form like that, you just simply tie the plants down and they will grow back up towards the light.
they just need more of the light, other then that they're doing good, just a lil stretched out but they look healthy.
The roots will be fine, they will be getting alot bigger anyways once they get older.

Alright, well today is 37, and time for another weekly update.

So last time I was saying how my plants were too tall, and I wasn’t sure what to do. After reading some threads that were recommended to me by SICC, I spoke to my buddy as well and decided to try a version of LST. We also topped the plants, before tying them down. We tied the plants down (so they run perpendicular) using fishing string I had lying around the house.

Also this week, my buddy let me borrow his air pump and air stone. Still don’t have the LED.

Today was the scheduled reservoir and nuets flush, but wanted to get some feedback first. I am seeing how much harder its going to flush the water out now, and wanted to see what you all thought about not doing that. Would it be harmful for me to only fresh nuet water to the reservoir as the plants need it?

Lastly, I also thought I would try and help these autoflowering ladies start flowering. A few days after topping and doing a form of LST, I put the girls in 24 hours of dark. Since the aerogarden doesnt have a 12/12 setting, and they are "autoflowering", manually I am lessening their light time on the peppers setting.

Let me know what you all think about that one, as well as the feedback on my pics.

Also, anybody know any tips for an out of towner that would love to make a trp to Cali and do some cropping, and learn more about growing?

The LST looks good, you need to change the rez out weekly, if not, every two weeks. Its all beneficial for the plant. And since they are auto flowering, you dont need to mess with the lights, they actually only need 20 hours on, and 4 hours off, you should get a timer for the AG.

Alright, well that unfortunate time has come, and I think we might have a problem.
Since the last set of pics (3 days ago) the leaves at the bottom of the plant have started taking a turn for the worst. A few have browned up, and fallen off the plant. The others are still attached but browning. Now this is only the bottom set of leaves of the plant, rest of her looks great. She has even started flowering, and nice hairs coming out.
I decided to flush the water every two weeks, rather than every week like I have been doing. I did not add the week’s scheduled nuets on Sunday; rather I waited till the reservoir needed more water which was today.
Please let me know what you all think. I am unsure if its simply from the stress endured this past week (LST, topping, 24 hours dark), or if maybe is some sort of nuet deficiencies.

Thanks in advance!

Dude,
u started way over my head. I grow in soil. We all have to think about PH. Ur probably going to be fine, but, Keep reading and posting.

As I understand it, its quite normal for the bottom leaves to fall off.

I dont know anything about hydro or the AG but i wouldnt be too freaked out (based off of what you said).

Im interested to see how your grow progresses, so Im subscribed :)

i dont have any experience with anything aside from soil, but the bottom leafs fall off as the plants consume the energy within them. thats how i am to understand it, anyway. looks like you are well on your way. keep it up, so to speak
They might just be hungry, if they keep yellowing up your nutrients.
As always, thanks a lot for the info, but one question.

How do you tell if the plants are hungrey and starting to yellow, or the nuets are burning the plants?

I will be flushing her in the next day or so, and as always will have pics up and welcoming feedback. Thanks
