As titled, 1st grow. Today is the 50th day of Flower or 7th week. Trichomes are mostly cloudy. Leaves are mostly green but starting to crisp. Fox Farm Nuts. I'm thinking another week but am yet still unsure of myself and would love some well-earned knowledge from you all. Thank you. :)

That's insane! Waiting has never been a friend of mine but we can can camp out for a while longer. Plus I'm kinda sad thinking about chopping her. SO much love and care has been piled onto her. She's my Covid bff. lol

The wait after the chop is going to be the "can't wait for summer vacation" feeling you use to have in school. This has definitely turned me into a life long grower.
Exact same feely lol like a kid in a candy shop thats not allowed to have or touch anything

My Wife & I have been enjoying daily tastings now that the first plant harvested* is curing, really fun!
Waiting for it to dry was easy --- we left town for a few days! :bigjoint:
Enjoy!

*chopped a bit early - the plant was winding down and one cola had budrot, so I harvested.

Bud Rot sounds like a nightmare, glad you got some out of it though. I wish I could leave town until "Opening" it would make it easier not to touch it. lol.. I just put two into flower so I'm back on the "Mother Hen" cycle again. I've kept it small so I can gain skills and experience before I take it out on those beautiful plants. I had three to start the last time and ended up with two males, disappointing but an important learning time. What an adventure. lol

It was! "Only" lost 4 inches of one cola. After my rh had some high spikes, I spotted a couple of yellow/brown leaves in the bud; when I pulled, they came out with no resistance at all - uhoh...
I chopped the affected cola appx. an inch below the soft area, then dissected it in another room - about 2 inches were soft to the touch and had grey-ish mold inside. Yuck!

I would have been heartbroken. I find this process a lot more emotional than my food garden. lol I'm doing this for strictly personal use. So the 1 or two at a time is plenty as long as I don't have a mishap. I've also gotten into cooking with them so I am trying for an "Oh damn, I screwed up" side supply as well. :P

It definitely sucked lol
BUT - I just paused from typing to take a bong rip from one of the good sections of the bud-rotted plant (appx. 2oz harvested).
Tough to beat the flavor, effect and gratification of the seed-to-smoke experience!

On topic,
Here's how I've been looking at trichs.
Take a close up shot of a whole bud using the flash - now zoom in. Blurry right? That's what we need.
Here's an early shot that shows what I mean pretty well:

The ONE amber trich is amplified nicely in its blur,
Cloudy trichs absorb some of the light, rendering them as a flat blur.
Clear trichs reflect light, causing the white blur circles.

WHOAAAAA... thought I smoked myself into another dimension, lol That's really cool. I'm going to try that out today. I'm using my Samsung s20 ultra to photo. Yeah, it's a cell phone but the picture quality is insane. I'll post if I can get it to do this for me.
