This is my First Post, and my first honest try out for an indoor grow. I started reading here bout 2 months ago, about a month ago i was walking around the property and found an old Dishwasher, i figured it'd be a good candidate for a grow box. SO i gutted her out. and went to work. Anyone feel free to comment or suggest anything you feel i need know. I'm just using bagseed now. I figure it's better to start out w/ bullshit before i invest 40 USD for some seeds that might not make it to my doorstep . I've been putting everything together for the past few weeks, so we have a lot of catching up to do. Right on Let the Story Begin.

Although the amount of space i have is not very limited, my funds are, so everything here on a tight budget. Once the dishwasher was gutted i needed to rig up some ventilation. and lighting. I found an old humidifier, the big ciruclating fan that came from it was free and very helpful. I made an active intake, passive outtake system. i know most people think that's backwards, but i still have very nice negative pressure and good cirulation (see the wind blowing the tinsle). Next i took to walmart and picked up some Pots and Soil.

The soil was to "buds for less's" specifications, buy the book it's great. I used perilite and African Violet MG (i heard good things about it here).

The lighting: the apparatus is a double light fixture i found around the house, and added two y splitters (i plan to get four more to bump my total lights up to 8 once i start flowering). CFL's two 2600k and two 6400k. Damn daylights are too expensive ;-)

After hooking up the lights i found out that my box wasn't exactly light proof. Actualy would make a great lamp.

So now the initial set up was complete

By the time i got my room ready i had some of my seeds split (paper towel germination). So i went a head and put them in the pots.

Here's an actual look on the inside, lighting is pretty mediocre and half ass, but it worked for the moment it was like that, i went ahead and added some mylar on the sides to help w/ light.

Out of the 4 i planted only 2 made it first week. but they look healthy. Here are some pics of the two at a week old and some pics of the inside of box.

From here on out the pics will be a little bit better quality. I finaly got my batery charger for the camera. So here are the two kids at a little over a week old. I wanted 4 plants in my box so i started out 2 more plants I'd been germinating. Here are the pics of the kids

The first two pictures are the older ones, and the little gimpy last one is a new one i started, doesn't she look sad?

So this will be my last catch up post now. It's a day shy of 2 weeks since i began. I decided to make a few modifications to the grow room. First off i cut the pour spout and extra plastic from the pails/pots, and made a lamp hood out of cardboard and mylar. Not to shabby huh? The two older plants look awesome, the little gimp looks even gimpier (any suggestions help w/ that one is welcome, i've cut back on H20 for now. Finally, a fresh sprout has arrived, bring my total plants up to the desired four.

Here are some pics to peruse. any suggestions, questions, or something i've left out let me know. I'll be back to update once or twice a week, or when ever something interesting happens. Peace ! :peace:

So it's been about two weeks since i last posted, and oh man has there been some crazy shit goin down. first of all sorry for such a long spell w/o talking. But since i've not gotten any chatter, i supose it will be ok. It's hard to know where to start.

Anyway, my cat knocked over 2 of my plants when i was watering one day. Ole gymp, and what use to be the medium sized one. Ole gymp ended up dying after that. but ole medium is looking amazing. What use to be my bigest plant grew too close to the light when i was away from home for 4 days. so she's now the new medium. duh duh duh. There was lots of browning and drying, but she seems to be recovering ok. The seedling, now 2 weeks old looks better than either of the others did at their age.

I think i'm going to switch the kids over to flowering light, either a week from today or this sunday, depending on how big they are, i want to get a cutting or 2 of each of the bigs so i can get a shorter turn around time in the future. Anyways here are some pics. The first two are what use to be the medium. second 2 are the seedling. The 2 after that are of the recovering scorcher. Final pic is all of them in the chamber.

looks good but i would add more lights at least 2 more. how many watts are the cfls you have in there? and ive burned plants with the lights like that but they came out fine. just dont let them get burnt when they are budding, could lead to mold.

the leaves curling up in your first pic could be a magnesium deficiency, mine did the same thing and i added a few spoonfuls of epsom salts to my water and it cleared it right up

nice idea with the dishwasher by the way ;-)

whitenugz: um i'm guessing your talking about lights on, light's off . Right now i'm still 24h light/ 0 dark. this weekend i'm going to grab 2 more spliters and bump up to 6 lights at 12h/ 12h, but before i do i'm going to try to get some cuttings. i've heard that anything over 18h's the plants don't notice. so my second grow i might try that since i'll have a timer by then. Hope that helps.

Florida sucks: Yup i was plannin on adding some more light to it see ^^ depending i might bring my total up to 8 if i can fanangle a way with my fixture and limited space. i have an idea, but it's hard to explain. Right now there are 2, 25w soft wite and 2 20w daylight. When i go to flowering they will all be the soft white, and i'll take the 2 daylights for my cuttings/ mom. Thanks for the hope on the burned guy, she looks like she's going to make it.

sbhs171: Yeah i was wondering about those curled leaves. They seem kinda brittle too. I'll try out the epson salt. Hope it works. can you give me a more specific ratio few spoon fulls per what?

Thanks for the help guys. I'll be keeping you all posted. most deff after the clippings get started.

your gonna need a timer for this grow unless you want to be turing the lights on and off at exactly the same time every morining and night. they do have fairly cheap non-digital timers at home depot.

To say it's been a while would be an understatement, and alot has gone on since i last posted. i tried cloning. they didn't survive. one of my 4 plants died, and one was male. So now i have 2 female plants. I've had to LST to try to keep height down in the dishwasher. they're lookin alright i guess. i don't realy know because this is my first grow, so tell me what you think guys. LSTing gave each plant several little colas in addition to the main colas. They've been in 12/12 for 2 weeks this monday so about 12 days. They showed sex about 4 days in. Here's some eye candy for you guys. check out my young ladies.... Do ya'll think their buds are going to fill in more?
