100,000 hours actually if I recall correctly.

The reason why they don't list lumens is because its not nearly as much as say a HPS light but 90% of that HPS isn't even used by the plants, 100% of the led is.


Heres some info I found on which spectrums do what, now its only a matter of finding out which of these things need to be focused on the most for big budz and honing in on the best wavelengths.

Red spectrum
Photosynthesis
Phytochrome

Blue spectrum
Photomorphogenesis
Phototropism
Stomatal Control

right now the setup I am thinking about is going to be something similar to this ratio wise.

6 red : 1 warm white : 2 blue


there is no single frequency plants use, there is just relative % of absorption used by photosynthesis in those colors.

the highest percentages are around ~450nm and ~640nm

I can see why your LED light has orange, because that's somewhere inbetween.

I would definitely keep those cfls so you have some white light in there.


I think I'm going to start compiling a thread on LED lights and see if some other people can shine more light on the subject.
Cool info, yeah a LED thread will be cool as well as bashed, but so was the aero garden and hydro growing and cfl grows.

I found a link that is really interesting. This new plasma light is even more efficient than LEDs and puts out more light than anything currently available. I don't think you can buy them yet, or at least I couldn't find where...

Well yea thats just how society is, anyone who challenges convention is going to be questioned and scrutinized.

Plasma just sounds dangerous, I think LED is the way to go.

If LEDs are really 70 lumens/watt then that would mean that the 300watter is 21,000 lumens of nothing but usable light.


1000W hps = 150,000 total lumens = ~15,000 usable lumens
300W LED = 21,000 total lumens = ~21,000 usable lumens.

I'm wondering what the lumen/watt output for the luxeon leds is... If that guy is only using 60 watts and hes yielding that much bud with just LED that would mean they are way more efficient than that.


edit: I just took another look at HTG and it looks like they added a relatively affordable 50 watt fixture with the tri-band technology, they state the light frequency in NM that they are using, maybe I'm just a sucker, it looks like all of the descriptions are just copy/pasted with the NAME of what they are selling..

150w HPS wont be too big of an issue, but that 50 watt led panel will probably out-do a 150w for sure, and be way less of a bitch to move around with the ballast.

Definitely get the tri-band one though if you get it, you can use it from seed to harvest, which is also nice.

Lol.. Led Revolution going on in here.... I went with both 400w hps and 90 w led and 4 23w=100w 6500 k, and two 42w=150w 2700 k all placed in clamp Lamps and placed accordingly. I thought I would cover the whole damn spectrum upside down and backwards..... But heat and ventilation is a huge issue.... If I went w/ the cfl's and the led, I would only need a medium sized fan blowing across surface or plant canopy. With the 400w HPS on, which I now use daily and supplement the rest. Is freaking hot, and causes the whole room to heat up and eventually gets muggy. I also have a standing fan on medium setting constantly blowing across canopy when HPS is on and it keeps te temp at 72-78. I had the hps less the 16" from plant tops- for some serious penetration. Ohhhh Yah and get the new tri-band 90w. It's usually only $25-50 more expensive then the one I got. Red and blue bulbs only. 80 red, 10 blue.... i see them go on ebay for 175 all the time. sometimes cheaper on weekdays-rather then the weekend price jack...:lol:

What does it mean if it "pure sativa" What's the difference? I actually have never thought about this. The crap I usually have gotten (other than in college-that shit was awesome and fresh) is brick or dried out junk. What's the best to grow indoor? Does it matter?

Cannabis sativa , is a tall plant, generally between 8 and 12 feet. The leaves have long thin fingers and are light green. The more equatorial varieties have more yellow pigments to protect the plant from intense light. Sativa buds are long and thin and turn red as they mature in a warm environment. In cooler environments the buds may be slightly purple. Sativa plants smell sweet and fruity and the smoke is generally quite mild. It is a source of fiber for rope and other products and it contains THC which gives smokers the psychic effects they seek. The leaves of this plant are smoked but the most highly prized part of the plant is the top.

Cannabis indica, is plentiful in the Mideast, India, and Central Asia especially Afghanistan, Kashmire, and Pakistan. It is a short plant, generally between 3 and 6 feet, and its leaves have short broad fingers. The leaves are generally dark green sometimes tinged with purple. As they near maturity, the leaves may become significantly more purple. It is a strong smelling plant with a "stinky" or "skunky" smell. The smoke of indicas is generally thick and more prone to cause coughing when inhaled. Indicas are the traditional source of hashish.

Thanks dude! That's some detailed info. Nice picture too. Well, I wish I could tell if my seeds are indica or sativa. Obviously the indica is probably better for indoor. No wonder this girl is so freakin tall! haha. thanks SICC. Later.

hey nice i was going to make my own led grow board from scratch but didint know how it worked your leafs dont look too happy (raised) kinda droopy but wtvr i need nutrient helppp bad i just started ayroponics and need to know some stuff if you could reply to my post (NUTRIENTS need help) i would love it

Yep, they are great for LST setups.

More and more people have started growing indoors, people want indica... so pure sativas are becoming more and more rare.

It looks like you have room for it to grow though, so it wont be a problem, if I had your plant growing in my space, I'd be fucked. lol

Haha, Well, I may have to have a Re-fi Property inspection deal, which means I'll have to chop this girl down!:wall:
I fuckin hope not, I've put time in this project and it would suck to have to cut it down and start over. I'm curious what this thing will do.

I have a question:
Do you think the old dead plant roots will hurt anyting staying in the rez? They are tangled in the current plant's roots and I can't remove. Still drinks water, just slower now that the other 2 are gone.

How do you suspect a seed could be a feminine one? I got a Ice seed the other day.... I germed it and started, then left the light to close, on one 12 hr period of its 24 hr daily, and bam burnt that sucker almost crisp..... then sprayed w/ h2o and re-set. Now new growth has begun. It was completely purple at one pointe. I was kinda impressed....?

It depends on what stance you take, if plant sex is determined by seed or environmental variables. If its not feminized (didn't come from a female that went hermi) theres no way to tell sex until flowering.
