day 13 overall
day 9 since sprouting

A few of these things are starting to really grow. I'm quite happy with everything considering some of these are only on day 8 since sprouting.

I just did my first feeding of 1/4 strength 20-20-20 plus superthrive at 200ml per plant. Well, I guess they've gotten superthrive once before if you want to call that a feeding.

once again my pics aren't great even tho I have a pretty nice camera ...

stay tuned!

Thanks!

I was told that 60%RH would help increase the female to male ratio by cheddarchops and he's grown these auto's before so I want to take his advice. Anyone know a good way to increase the RH other than a humidifier or turning the fans down?

I'm having a photo finish with my breaker not popping so I don't want to plug anything else in.

And to make things even worse my hygrometer won't arrive for at least 10 more days

Hello viewers!

I know it's less fun reading a journal that's constantly updated where you can barely see growth from one update to the next. I was just excited to see how much growth has occurred in only one day. I'll try and hold off after this until something bigger happens.

I figure I have about 10 plants like the one in the bottom right corner of the group pic....$10 bucks says all but 1 or 2 of the big, fast growing ones will be male...it always goes like that it seems

oh well, maybe I'll get lucky

Didn't mean to do an update until tomorrow evening...

anyways, much to my dismay I noticed that 4 out of 21 plants have what appears to be mild nute burn?

This is most puzzling since every plant was given 100% exactly the same concentration of fertilizers (1/4 strength) at the same 200ml amount.

The other 17 plants look wonderful....(see pic #3)

this almost makes me think it's not nute burn at all

I gave the offending 4 a good flush and hope since I'm so anal about checking these things daily I've caught it early and in time.

I must say I was hoping to make it a bit further into the grow before bungling something

Here you go man. The only thing I got to say is be careful when you take advice on here. I may not have alot of posts, but I been growing for a while now, and I know bad advice when I see it. You do NOT want to transplant auto's, unless they get a case of rootbound. Than you can translplant. You will stunt them ( I did it my first time growing autos, and my yields now compared than are like night and day)

Here is the joint doctors lowryder grow guide..will answer most of your questions.:peace:

Thanks for the interest and the grow guide

I did decide to plant the germinated seeds directly into the 2 gallons pots they will remain in. I thought all 21 wouldn't fit in the tent but it turned out ok

now that I thought about it, and read more, I think my problem is heat stress not nute burn.....any advice/comments greatly appreciated

here's two more pics of curled leaves plus a group shot showing that I'm not incompetent!

I have since turned my cool tube fan up by about 20%....

still waiting on my hygromoter/thermometer, but it has only been 4 plants out of 21 so I'm not so worried

No problem bro

How high is your light from the plants?

If the leaves look like they are "bleaching", than I would think they are heat stressed. Try raising it a few inches everyday until your problem goes away.

I have the exact same problem..lol...I want to keep my HPS as close as possible, and my leaves start bleaching. I raise the lamp untill it goes away. Every inch counts!

the lamp was quite far away I thought at about 19 inches. I just bumped it up to 20 inches plus the fan is going harder now.

My thermometer isn't here yet, but if I had to guess it can't be more than 75 or so in there. Maybe it might be 78 max. It only feels hot on my back when I lean way in to get to the plants and the cool tube is 2 inches from my back. If I put my hand under the bulb at 6 inches away it just feels warm and at 8 or 9 you can just feel the heat slightly. At one foot you can't even feel it.

Also, only my 2 very very smallest plants have the curled leaves so I put them in the corners. I guess another possibility is the heat could be fine and they could just be runts? I have several others that are way taller and therefore closer to the bulb and they're all great....oh well...they're not bad and I do have 21 so I'm not stressing out over 2 being less than perfect

hey maybe they'll be males anyways?

thanks for the info

You sound like me bro, tripping over every little discoloration, every little possible problem!

Anyways, these strains are pretty good man, they grow themselves and you will be ok. Bad thing, is that out of a 10 pack, only three were females! That is why I only go feminized now, even with the possiblity that the plant could go hermie on me. :peace:

three out of ten huh? That must just be bad luck.

If I get six this time around I wouldn't get anything other than feminised either

Yeah, I thought it was bad luck too, but then I got to reading on RIU, and alot of people are having the same problem with AutoFlowers, a low femal/male germ rate. Seems to be about 35-40% chance of females.

I have read it at a few different choices. I just get Femz Now, I like the piece of mind, you know?

BUt, I am very happy with the strain. Nice smoke, easy grow, its a good supplement to my garden. :peace:

Just a really quick update.

Plants will be two weeks old tomorrow so I guess that means pretty soon they'll start showing sex.

Figured out my problem was heat stress, not over fertilizing....shoulda known better, but live and learn right?

Light has been raised another several inches and all is well

this has me kinda worried since I was counting on 10 being female and hoping that I'd end up with 11 or 12 out of 21 total with a bit of luck.

I guess 7 or 8 isn't terrible tho....

I'm still hopeful and I'll know in a few short days

keep watching!8-)

I guess I'll separate them and collect a bit of pollen

Day 17 since sprout

So I just checked again and now have 8 confirmed males.

I have one female so far as well

Guess I'll switch over to the HPS bulb now and do a bloom feeding

first pic is of some of the males I pulled out.

I have this one large plant too...so far no pollen sacks.

in the next couple of days all the males will have shown themselves so with a little luck I could still be on track for a decent ratio

8 males so far? That sucks, but part of the game. You going to do a seed run?

Looking good bro, I will keep checking in on your grow.:peace:

I'm ok with 8. I was hoping for sixty percent female. I checked again this morning and there were still no new males so I'm feeling much better.

I figure by Tuesday all males would have shown themselves. Even if I only get ten girls I'll be content. Of course now that I said that when I get home and check again I'll find more.

Frigging iPhone posting is tough!

Thanks! I think I will try and get some pollen off one male I moved to a window. My gf has already informed me if it starts to smell it's going I'm the garbage. I was only planning on doing a few buds with pollen so I could put a few outside since it's way too hot to grow in my place in July and august. I would like to get a few seeds tho since it doesn't make sense to fork out everytime. I do have a pack of white rhino saved up too if I end up having to toss out the one male I'm keeping.
