1st time ever. 400w what kind of exhaust?

Hey, everyone this is my first time posting and growing. I need some advice on my purposed set up.

I'm going to grow two plants scrog under a single 400w light. I want to make sure I buy the appropriate equipment. I plan to use an inline fan with insulated ducting going to an exhaust box housing my carbon filter with a passive exhaust.( just a bunch of holes drilled into the back.

For me it's key to make sure the fan is quiet enough to be in the same room and not really hear it or at all. I will be sound proofing the entire exhaust box and the mounts for the exhaust fan. The cab I will be growing in is 60"in.W x 30"in.D x 7'ft H.

My main concern is sound and temp. I will also be using computer fans mounted at the top and bottom of the cab for intake and more exhaust into the same exhaust box.

If anyone could give me some advice as to which fans will work best for my setup and needs. How strong of a fan? Which one? And any advice for sound proofing.

Thanks,

Freshn' green

P.s. I'm still designing it and will try to get pics of my design illustrations up when they are finished.

Carbon filters are actually designed to be pulled through, not pushed through (filter>fan not fan>filter) Your way will work but your prefilter will not work, you should plan something replaceable to put either before or in the run of ducting, or turn it around. You could use the filter on one side of the fan then box the fan and filter inside of a diy sound trap, and then insulated ducting out. Just a thought.
Are you using an air cooled light? where is the filtered air going (out of the area or back into it?

Thanks for the good info. I'll be switching it around to filter>fan not fan>filter like you said. I think your idea is better, with the filter on one side of the fan with the fan being put in the soundproof box.

I'll be using an air cooled light. The filtered air would be pushed out of the cab into the room the cab will be in.

Do you have any other advice like how strong of a fan i'll need to keep good temps?

Thanks

You have 87.5 cubic feet of area, you shouldn't need too big of a fan at all, 200 cfm should more than cover it, even with the filter slowing it some.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll be posting the design sometime in the near future and then i'll also be adding some photos as things come along.
