Firstly i'd like to say thankyou for having a look at my first ever full attempt at growing! This has been something I have spent alot of time debating, pricing ect and now the time has finally arrisen!

So here's a look at the setup!

Firstly the growing enviroment -

1x1x2m Secret Jardin DS100 grow tent.

Tent.jpg
I have decided to go with a WILMA 4 pot Hydroponic system using Clay pebbles as the grow medium and IONIC nutrient solutions. At the moment the blue flood drippers are in place and are set on a digital timer to be turned on for 15 minutes every 3 hours. I have only been using 50% recommended nutrient dosage -

Nutrients.jpg WILMA-HYDRO.jpg

As for lighting I have a 600w hps bulb inside a CoolTube reflector. The light is held in position from the centre roof bar using EasyRolls and is currently set on a digital timer for 18/6. On the left handside of the reflector, connected via ducting, is a standard carbon filter. On the other side (again via the ducting) is a TT100 extractor fan exhausting the heat outside of the tent.

Hanging-System.jpg
At first I only had a standard reflector on the 600w hps and soon found out the hard way that the heat produced in such a small enviroment is overpowering. Tent temperatures towards the end of the light period would spiral into the high 30's (Celcius). Unfortunately because of this heat stress started to become noticeable along the leaf tips (see attached photos)

So here I am, new system in place so lets hope growth gets back on its way and i'll be keeping this journal updated as much as possible with pictures ect.

All comments, feedback ect welcome! I realise not much is going on at the moment but keep tuned!

Peace out RIU :joint:

Good news Guys!

Despite the previous problems with heat stress due to my old reflector, the new CoolTube has worked perfectly! Temperatures are now sitting comfortably in the mid 20's and the humidity has also settled nicely!

Learning from my mistakes and I would deffinitely recommend anyone using a small growing enviroment like mines to invest in a good heat preventing reflector (especially when using a 600w hps!)

Take a look at the plants now (this is only after 24 hours in the new enviroment)

Sour Cream (this was planted a few days after the other plants so is a bit behind!) -

Well i feel like writing something and updating since im rather high.. No pictures today only seen the plants briefly today and the hps plays havoc with camera phones! Just so i know for future reference does turning the light off unexpectedly during veg cause any stress to the plants? Seems like a daft question but better safe than sorry!

Very impressed with the growth once again, its a brilliant feeling watching everything come to place. The leafs are stretching out to the tip of the pots and they seem to be stacking up nicely! The super lemon haze stem bent over a little today, looked a bit slanted! Propped it up with a few clay pebbles around the base and hopefuly growth will continue towards the light! I tried to introduce a desk fan to help air circulation however I think due to the slight stretching at the start when I was still ironing out the cracks has perhaps not made them as strong as they should be!

Ill hopefuly get a chance to take some snap shots tomorrow when the light is off and keep this training rolling.

Peace out RIU

Hey man looks like a great set up. Im in my first grow also. I think i have a very similar tent. Also i started with a 600w for veg and then added another 600w when i put them into flowering. I grew 15 plants but next time im gonna cut it down to like 8. Fewer bigger plants looks like a better idea, like you did. Im in my 7th week of flowering and im pretty happy. I think your plants will grow up fine now since you have 'ironed out the cracks". I too had some heat problems to fix, I did not think a small tent could get so hot haha. Glass panels and vented lights :)

Wow that's great growth for only 2 days. I noticed all the new leaves look a lot healthier since the heat problem was taken care of! Keep up the good work! As for nutrient dosages, i don't know much..i'm using fox farm but im thinking about switching next grow. Wouldn't recommend it.

Keep updating with pics and people with eventually catch on!

Another 2 day growth report, things are looking well -

Sour Cream -

The growth of the Super Lemon Haze seems to have slowed down alittle in comparison to the other two, this could be down to the different plant types or perhaps something is going wrong. It seems pretty health from the pictures and in person! The longest out of the 3! If anyone else has grown this plant please let me know how they got on!

Been slacking off a bit recently with the updates, however here's some new pictures of how they are getting on -

All the photos are taken over a period of 3-4 days so they are in order from oldest to newest (left to right)

Hope you enjoy the new photos guys, currently tent temperatures are sitting at 25-29 degrees celcius, humidity ranges from 40-50% and there is a desk fan in the bottom right corner (hidden in the photos) on full power to give them a nice breeze.

I was wondering if anyone had any useful advice or information on trimming and maintaining the leaves at this point or is it ok to keep them going until later on?

Peace out RIU :joint:

I'v noticed a lot of views but not so many replies! Anyone passing by feel free to comment, all advice welcome!

Does anyone have a rough idea how much longer these babies need before I can start flowering?

Peace out RIU :joint:

Unfortunately I'v been without internet access for the past 2 weeks, its been hell!
I'll get an update up to show you the flowering progress asap!

@@WOWgrow

No the cooltube is larger than 5" (not sure its exact measurement) however with some substantial ducktaping it is quite easy to keep the joints air tight!

Your SLH leaves look very indica to me, I dunno, but every SLH I've seen has very thin leaves and they stretch like a bitch. Where did you get your seeds?

Ya man tell me if ya find something good. I feel like fox farm burns my plants every time. And I mean with minimal dosage even. Didn't notice any fast growth or bigger than usual buds either so overall I'd say there is definitely better stuff out there.
