1st time grower

This is our first time out and we've got forty jack the ripper plants and forty of the jack resin mix. Hopefully half will turn out to be females leaving us with forty (highly) useable plants. We have a whole bedroom, measuring 12 by 13ft, dedicated to growing, which has been tin-foiled throughout. The floor has been glossed with white paint. The plants have only the one set of serrated leaves, assuming that two = a set but we have felt it prudent to switch on the big lights as some of the stems were starting to droop, despite the fan we've got set up. At the moment we're using two 400w metal halide and one 400w hps. We're also using the organic method with an 8 hour darkness period which we implemented yesterday. What I want to know is, is this enough light and can this be determined by the temperature of the room? ie, if the temp' of the room goes down does this mean the plants need more light. There is no prob' with old-bill as we are sit' in a high rise block of flats.

Also, we are the proud owners of at least six sets of twins, and one set of triplets. Can anyone shed anymore light on this, as it is difficult finding information.

16 hours of light is correct to keep the plants in the grow cycle. 3 400w bulbs should be enough for 40 plants. Just keep the temps below 85*f.

Not too sure about the twins and triplets part??? Sounds like you have a lot of sex. lol.

Do you have a picture of what you are talking about?

Uses the Rollitup profile
16 hours of light will keep them in veg state, but 18 or more will be better.

The temps of the grow room don't make any difference to the plant as long as it's comfortable. Cannabis is photoperiodic, which means that she is triggered to flower by lengthening hours of darkness to the critical point, which we use as 12 hours. Indoors, you want to give her as many hours of light as you can while keeping her in the stage that you want.

If by twins you mean seedlings with 2 main branches, that just means the plant will be bushy.

thanks for all the advice. Definitely twins though, bloke at grow shop says he always splits them as one could be female, the other male etc. I'm thinking of keeping them as they are, if one set do turn out one of either maybe a magnifyer will pick out subtle differences between the two which will make it easier when sexing the others. Speaking of sexing, the bloke in the grow shop recommended we take clones of each plant while still in veg and force the clones to flower in a cupboard somewhere, obviously keep careful note of which plant each clone belongs to, then you'll know for sure which ones are going to be which.
Pics are in my computer now, i just don't know how to get them on this site, not very computer savvy. Luckily I have a brother that is and he'll be down later today. So fingers crossed and I'll have the pics up before midnight. Anyone read my L.E.D.'s post? I'm seriously considering it for our next crop.
Pics are now in photo album, can supply more if required. Please... feel free to browse.

I think before you go dropping lots of money on LED's and learning to grow with them, I would get the soil and/or hydro down first; it may make the jump to LED alot easier for you and your pocket book.
