1st time indoor T5 grow box

First indoor-T5 Grow box..
What up everyone? First off, hello, I'm completely new to this, but I have been studying for quite a few months about growing, and plant life in general, so I hope I can do an ok job first round..

So... I've recently (the past month and a half) decided i'm sick of buying from dealers and decided to do my own thing. I had a dresser 50''longx28''tallx18'' that i gutted out, and made doors on the empty walls with plywood, with the fronts of the dresser drawers on the panels so it looks like a dresser still. This is going to be my veg room. I bought a pioneer 4 jr (4-2'tubes) and it barely fits lol, which kind of sucks because keeping the temp down is a little tough since the box doesn't breathe amazing. I made my own ghetto exhaust fan with a cheap 4'' fan and cardboarded the whole thing, making it airtight and works ok. If I had a smaller light it would be perfect.... or maybe an LED which I am considering soon.. Anyway I have two small fans blowing on my lights and i have them about 4'' away, and the box inside is wrapped in mylar. Oh yeah and I'm running my lights 20/4 right now.

The Babies...These are growing pretty well I'd say comparing to tons of threads I've seen starting from seed. Ive got 7 started right now, 3 (Bagseed either LAC, GDP, Bender, or possibly BD) of which are 3 weeks ahead of the other 4 (LAC Bagseed). The 3 older ones are growing solid!! the first couple weeks were really awesome! I just topped the 3 and i think two of them I didn't do quite right only one has 2 new stems oh well lol. Im hoping I can get 2-3 solid females then I plan on cloning them for a perpetual grow, which I have another chest dresser for flowering I am building now.

I bought some afgan ryder seeds and got 3 free femenized seeds which is pretty sweet, so after I get a couple more months experience I will be sprouting one or two of those for mothers.

Oh and almost forgot I am using Happy Frog Soil.. and the foxfarm trio... and I just gave them their first PH balanced watering yesterday... tap water isnt too bad here actually like 7.5 i thought it would be like 9 or 10 lol

I have a question tho, i just installed a vortex exhaust fan (177cfm), and i have two fans blowing directly on my cfl's...but temps are staying max 87 And i read in another thread frozen water bottles behind the fan can help a little...so ive done that, and i raised my lights up to about 7'' above my canopy... hmm... want my box to be closed at all times but temps are a little too high lol... any advice?

This is week 4, day 4 from seed, I think. Man, talk about growing like a weed lol. These bad boys are growing pretty quickly I'm guess they're having a dandy ol' time in their home... the new tops for all three older ones are looking great, and I topped them again. Im probably going to have to train them like crazy during flowering... oh well...kind of want a clone anyway for a mother or two...I moved the light up a little bit and they are beginning to stretch a little bit. has grown about an inch and a half in two days

Wow in thumb form that second picture looks like a taxi that got in a crash (half the front bumper) hehe anyone else seeing that?

Yah ive seen people put perlite/stuff on top if they were having bug issues from the soil. Probably better safe than sorry.
Temps, such a bitch! Yah when i was using CFLs i was putting in frozen water bottles it would drop 2 degrees F usually.

Really surprised youre getting those temps with a vortex though, whats your ambient temps outside the cab? Youre just using Floro tubes and CFLs right?

yeah im using some floro tubes in it...ambient temps have def been about 78-80 so... thats what ive been doing... theyve been hanging about 85-86 the last week and i think thats pretty ok for just veggin out... im gonna go take some pics..

Alrighty... it has been a minute since i have updated, but i took the time to take some pics of the babes..

the clone is a tangerine dream from a feminized grandmother a buddy of mine is growing... i took a pic with the top of my ghetto dome off... had her about 3 or 4 days i think...

sad day... all 3 LAC seed sprouts i planted in horrrrrrible draining soil and it couldnt get water.... and i transplanted them into some fox farm and two died...one grew great after it adjusted... so... i have a Diesel Ryder sprout and a blue mystic grandmother sprout now as well..

the older crowd is looking awesome... the last 3 days ive seen amazing growth... gonna need to send em into flowering in about 2 weeks or less for space purposes in my flowering chamber...

Wow, theres some good growth going on. I had a retarded plant in the corner under some lights i wired up, and it was on a 12/12 cycle, and it turned out to be male.. so it is panted outside until I can extract some pollen and possibly make a batch of seeds.... haven't decided yet I just didn't want to just kill it. Kind of bummed..

The one LAC left has doubled in size in 24 hours! at least... got two new sprouts, one is a diesel ryder auto, and the other is a Connie Chung fem... sprouted and are growing nice, I transplanted them into a some party cups for room purposes. Stoked.

Big ladys (hoping for two sexy babes) If not, oh well, learning a lot so far this go a round.. transplanted them into some real pots Gave them a nice dose of nutes today and hope they grow nice and big for papa.... haha... anyways, im charging my camera battery now, I'll have some update pics up within an hour.

So, here's my flowering chamber first. Painted the inside with elastomeric white roofing paint, its badass as shit! haha. put 4 coats on nice n shiny. Got a little bit of work to do still, waiting on the led panel to come in the mail... gonna line the sides with a t5 strip on each wall. Also, got a pc case that im going to use to do some micro growing with my auto's....

The hydroton on soil is to leave the suface soil untouched by the water being dumped in to quickly. The hydoton allows the water to flow around it and gently water the soil...Alot of time your soil is mixed with perlite or some other light, easily aerated medium. If you water to quickly, you could disturb the top soil and wash away and expose delicate roots...

Hey dude, just took up your invite and poked my head in to take a peek. Everything seems to be going good. I did wonder what your thoughts on why you would start training her once she hit flower. You should really do that in veg. If you wait till flower, you may slow growth and stunt her. Once in 12/12, you want all her energy going to flower production, not wasting time repairing your training scars..If you train her in veg, once she flowers, she'll pop buds where she wouldn't have normally. More colas started early before flower. Just my 2 cents. I'll be checking around again. Looking good. Feel free to stop by my bush's grand finale. Peace my friend.

Hell yeah man good to see ya stopped on in... actually ive been on 18/6 still, and ive lst'd a little bit twice for about 2 days a piece. My flowering box has a solid 3 feet of grow room so i kind of want them to grow upwards.. but yeah, this is my first grow, and ive made a lot of mistakes, and learned a lot of things as well... thanks for the advice your nuggets look tasty when do you think your harvest will be? Be easy man.

oh yeah, and the hydroton allows for the roots to grow up to the top of the soil, and sometimes above the soil... it also lets me go an extra day or two sometimes between waterings... i left them off tho, seems like too much hassle at this point..I cant wait for my led to get here so I can start flowering. Im pumped! about two more weeks tops i'd say... given em some time

Maybe I'll post some pics up later, but for now I will just update you. Connie Chung and the Diesel Ryder are still growing great, but still babies of course. Getting more pumped every day so I can throw the ryder in my pc I built. The La is dramatically growing, and I am praying to god its a female but we will see.. and last the tree biggens. They are growing happy as hell I think. Have a random weird looking leaf or two on one, kind of a super dark green/brown patch. but other than that they are doing a great job on their own I would say. I also gave the big ones some nutes, so theyd better growwwww!!

SOOooo Ive been pretty impressed with myself lately hahaha... except for the one leaf thing going on on this one plant... any ideas what that is from? looks like some sort of deficiency... weird. i dunno.. ill be going over to the plant problems page in a little bit... heres some pics of the stems and tops... the la grew about 3/4'' and the two sprouts are almost doubled in size i'd say! man, Im thinking about my led panel every day, so that I can start the budding, hope they dont have too much sativa in them... any experienced growers out there have a guess of how sativa dom these big ones could be? Im pretty sure theyre all crosses... but I could be wrong. Anyway, enjoy for now.

Can you send me a link to where you bought the panel from? I used 2 90 W triband UFO LED's for veg on my bush. I was really happy with the internode length. The nodes were spaced out no more than an inch. I actually started her flower under the UFO, but only for 10 days till I got the 400W HPS.. Your grow looks stable except for the ones leaf. I'de go to the plant help section and diagnose it. I wish I could help with the sativa question but I'm a noob myself. I've learned alot, but still have A SHITLOAD more to learn. Peace.

Im gonna test it out, and if i like it probably get a 300 watter. these things are super bright. im learning a lot. couldnt find anything about that leaf tho i dunno..
