I have some seeds that have been laying around and I want to attempt my first outdoor grow. I have a few options as to where to grow and trying to narrow it down and would like some advice.

Option 1: Near a Thruway - I live in a spot that is next to a thruway. There is quite a bit of stretch that I can plant in that would be out of sight of the thruway and the homes that occupy the area. The stretch is basically behind everyones backyard and has quite the drop to get to the wooded area.

Option 2: Backwood trails where people ride quads. While the area is huge and there are a bunch of spots to grow, it is frequented enough by atv's that someone might come across them.

Questions:

- How far does the smell of the plants travel? I want to plant about 10 of them and I could find quite a few different spots. If I planted them next to the thruway would the smell travel up a decent sized hill and then some? If I chose where the ATVs rode and I found a spot off the trails and where you had to climb to get to would the smell travel down? How far would the smell travel? (distance is probably impossible to answer)

- There are some swamp like areas where water has settled. Can I plant close to the water and would the plant water itself? If so how close to the water should I plant it?

- When should I germinate the seeds? Its the middle of April and we just had back to back cold fronts here with it finally warming up and seems to be staying that way. The trees havent begun to sprout leaves yet so im not sure if I should bother starting the grow.

- How should I prep the area where I plan on planting? The soil around here is good but I dont want to rake up a bunch of dead leaves and give it away that someone was planting something.

Here are a few pics of some of the spots. 1 is near the water and 1 is up high to give an idea.

Some were no one is ganna see them and the smell travels far especially 10 in the same spot. Go to the organics section and amend your soil with stuff like bat guano ,blood meal ,bone mea,l kelp meal, alfalfa shit like that or buy some dry fertilizer mix it in with ur dirt there is a lot of options for amendmants. Don't forget pumice or perlite for aeration of some kind good luck man

1st off you need sun. The stuff in the woods will not be the best area, as once the trees gain leaves, to much shade will occur. I like the sound of the highway area, as long as it's not to close to the mowing area. Also, I would start the seeds indoors, get the plant going (3 weeks?) and then transplant. ( transport the plants in a bag, make 3 trips if needed) It's all a crap shoot, so go for broke. Oh, and the smell, that's would be the least of your problem, worry about the 6-8' plants being seen, or the coppers will hack that shit down (won't probably happen, more like one of your "friends" will get there 1st)

The only way to find a good spot is trial an error no of us can offer you the best one from your list without guessing. You learn threw your own mistakes or the mistakes of others. Don't be discouraged if you fail in your first try
