1st timer. Can i harvest this way?

Im growing 1 girl in my closet for the first time and its going great!
Its LA woman strain. bout 3 1/2 ft tall. bushy as all hell.

The top buds sites are obviously exposed to alot more light than the lower bud sites. Mainly because the lights are above the plant. which is normal. The top bud sites hairs are turning from white to brown really quickly but the lower bud sites dont have a single brown part on them. This obviously means that tops sites are maturing alot faster than the ones below and will be ready for prime harvest earlier.

So HERES MY QUESTION. Is it ok to harvest the top portion of the plant, then let the plant continue to grow on the same light cycle (water only) to allow the lower buds to mature for say ...maybe a week to 10 days tops?
Or will cutting off the top sites shock the plant to much and just make it die? Or have some other negative side effect?
Has anyone done this? It seems like it would work.
please help me here. Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

Yes,people have been know to harvest 1 plant over a period of 14 days parts at a time

can you just chop it off wherever you want and not have to worry too much about shocking it a lot? Like could i just chop the plant in half half way up and the bottom half would continue to grow fine for another week or 2?
