I like to use string to tie limbs down. Seems like I have more options that way.
I would show you, but they are nighty-night right now :P

thanks for the tip man, but i have been using string since i started growing, if you look at my other grows in my sig you will see this. string is good, but we use both string and U shaped spikes to LST! both are needed to get the perfect lst. never tie the string to the limbs. we loosely hook the string around the limbs, pull down and tape it to the side of the pot w duct tape. my first grow i tied the string to the limbs of the plant and the string grew into some of the limbs! not good for the plant, just hook the string like i said

Hey Guys. Kio, Great work bud, she looks happy happy :)

When it comes to following my tutorial, the U shaped spike is just 1 of a gazillion ways to do it. You can tie arms down as only1man suggested, you can weight them down, you can add 2"-2.5" sq screen above it and just not let it come through, etc. Like it says in the tutorial, GET CREATIVE. Twist ties work if there are things to tie to, zip ties, rubber bands, the list goes on.

A couple key points though. When attaching whatever you are doing to the plant, whether by tying around an arm, using an "s" hook to grab it, zip ties, whatever,....MAKE SURE you leave room for further growth of that limb (diameter wise).

Second point. If you have a plant that has developed nice healthy WOODY type stalks, you can do the bends in graduations. Bend it a little today,....little more tomorrow,..let it adjust,...little more the next day,...you get the point.

Good lucks guys and GROW 'EM UP!!

thanks man! word to that. we for sure used your thread as our basis to start LST, but we have modified it along the way. honestly i let my girlfriend do all the training, she is alot better at it than me, or just more patient she really puts alot of thought into it haha

Can anyone tell me if the wattage you all are talking about (i.e. - 200 watts cfl & 400 watt cfl) is the bulbs output wattage or the wattage it uses to power it? For example i went and bought 4 x 100 watt light bulbs of the 5600k but each bulb is 100 watt output and 27 watt of electricity usage......??? Does that mean i got 400 watts of light or 108 watts of light?

you're on the right track...means you have 108 watts man

ignore the watt output crap. it is just saying 24 watts of cfl is as bright as a 100 watt incandecent bulb basically..completely irrelevant to growing weed though really

Thanx a lot kiokrassi clears it all up for me bro !! Fixin to go to homedepot and return the bulbs for a higher lumen and wattage output !! I appreciate it

i would keep those 5k lights for vegging, and get 2k lumen rated lights for flowering....good luck bro

Very nice lst job dude. Most common is a 6500k daylight for veg and 2700k softwhite fOr flower. I try and mix mine during cycles. How much longer you thinkin tip chop? Partial harvest may be a good idea as well

Peace homie

word, i think 5600k will work even though the 6500 is better. thanks dude. they still got another 3 weeks probably, wanna harvest alittle later this time :) thanks for the tip, partial harvest i wanna try some day but usually i have more plants at 4 weeks veg ready to flower by the time the others are done flowering i'm picky about gaps between grows haha

I hear ya on that man. My last grow I harvested te tops ad let the bottom buds go. I've found with Cfl lights it work well thy way. I use a 125w just like yours and have enjoyed it. Glad to hear you have more ready to flower

Peace

thanks bro! honestly i feel like i lose alot of penetration with such a big tub...not saying it doesnt look good and it was necessary with the twins, but i can see how many small containers is the way to go with cfls

it varies but i expect 2.5 zips or more from this tub...first grow i yielded 4 zips from 2 plants in 5 gallon tubs...second grow i yielded 3.5 oz from 2 plants in about 2.5 gallon containers...but i think i can easily yield 8 oz under 400 watts if grown right!
