2000 watt scrog and thinking of adding another 1k metal halide! Too much??

Or should I swap out one of the hps for mh??

if so that 1000w mh would go perfect with 2000w of hps

i am running two 1000 watt hps, I have a smaller hood (also air cooled) and was thinking id split the lights apart and put the 1000 watt mh in the center but only if it's going to yield more bud (to pay for that electric bill)

yeah man thatd be perfect, to my understanding a 2:1 ratio of hps:mh is perfect...i think the mh has some uv in it which is great for thc production. but yeah id def try it i read thats the perfect setup, i dont have any personal experience tho so lemme know how it goes

For sure, I've read the tricomb thing too, I hear to switch to mh for the last two weeks of flowering increases tricomb production by like 40%!! But I only have a spare 1000 watt bulb so I'd rather mix the 3. I just wanna make sure it's gonna be worth it in the extra energy??

2 hps and 1 mh would be best realy, the red in hps stimulates flowering and mh blue is best for veg, using both in flowering will defo produce more buds as its more lumens and more spectrum

invest in LED they are cheaper to run with more lumens and have about 7 spectrums

I've got a 90 watt UFO, not a huge fan! I mean, yeah for maybe the last two weeks of flower I might add it to finish a plant up because of the different spectrums but yeah I don't like led, maybe I'll get some panels and mix hps and led and metal halide later on when the technology improves and the cost comes down a bit

the 90w ufos supposedly give out lumens like a 250w hps, 12 of them would be cheaper to run and alot better but 12 ufos would cost u a bit

yeah thats what they say, too bad thats bs. i wouldnt trade my 2000 watt hps set up for 20 of these ufo's. they just dont give the same result. id sooner switch to cfls.

back on topic: im simply asking if adding a 3rd 1000 watt light (metal halide) will significantly increase my yeild...

yes it would if you keep the temperature ok, no bulb can beat the sun though

I've used many scenarios with mixing hps and mh , even hps and led...but put it this way its around 70 to 80 a month to run a 1000 watt hood, and Im sure 3000 watt mixed spectrum will out produce 2000 watts of just hps. Not just a hunch as I've increased my yield by using more light , they get more dense... hope this helps

Hell yea

just my opinion but 2000w seems like overkill. your screen looks like it's 4x4. i'd pay real close attention to light bleaching. i'm willing to bet your plants at canopy level are already WAY over 10,000 footcandles. maybe look into getting a cheap light meter. either way if those are new bulbs and clean glass on the hood 1 light will do just as well as 2 and save you on electricity.
