Nope. Wawanesa tried that a few years ago and they lost in court. They claimed the policy was void. The judge wasn't impressed since the fire was caused by arson.

In short, don't trust insurance industry publications. It's lots of spin.

A one off, years ago.
Do some research. Call your insurance Co and ask if you’re MJ/MMJ garden is covered? Call a few more after that and you’ll see the pattern of non-coverage for standard homeowners policies. Then for shits & giggles...call your mortgage company and tell them you’re gonna grow your 4 LEGAL plants and see how fast your mortgage disappears. I have had multiple brokers looking into this for 5 years...ever since I was turfed by TD. Just because it’s legal, doesn’t mean you can force insurance Co’s to issue coverage. Unless the Gov steps and mandates the insurance industry to offer coverage (like they did with Uber), don’t expect any changes anytime soon!

News Flash....like only 1 insurance Co in Canada will cover ANY MMJ/MJ claim. Never mind lighting issues, Insurance Co’s won’t cover ANY residential Cannabis grows. Furthermore, if you make an unrelated residential claim, and they find your grow, your claim will be denied and the policy itself will immediately be deemed null and void. Don’t even ask what happens if your mortgage holder finds out about an MJ grow! That should all change, but underwriters/banks aren’t rushing to make it happen anytime soon.
So what I said above is what my landlord told me her insurance company told her

I would hazard a guess, that if you’re growing in her rental unit...she’ll find out she has NO coverage at all!
And then there is the guy in whitby who literally blew his house in half making oil yesterday. :o
I am going back to bubble hash and rosin its safer and wow that makes the news.

I am also a believer in solid UL or CSA approved lights. They cost a bit more but they pay themselves off in 2 grows max.

Well i bet he wasnt making oil out of 4 oz of schwag. Maybe barrels full of outdoor product with gallons of ispo or methel hydrate. All it takes is a doorbell ring and BOOM

In other breaking news.....4 oz of buds and rosin pucks are decarbing. I have 3 cups of VG and the magical butter machine is ready to make me some tincture.

This is the first time I have tried VG so hopefully it works out very good :D When its done i might make some gummies next week but a few drops in a coffee will help me see how strong it is.

IPA is not as volatile as BHO or propane or natural gas or gallons of gasoline ... ALL KEPT AT YOUR RESIDENCE..
these are ideas from fools who think the sky is falling..
That said.
Doesnt matter what solvent gets used by IDIOTS

oh the guy is an idiot. I just mean big volume of flammable solvents being evapped in the home.....It happens a few times a year but nothing as spectacular as that house. It broke the whole side off of the house. Crazy.

I did QWISO in the garage. Door open and a fan blowing and boiling water as the evap inducer. I think if you respect what you are dealing with you can do it. Pretty much like a power tool. :D

And the VG is very nice actually. I licked the spatula and it is trucking along well. I kept the cooking crap because i lost at least 3/4 a cup of VG in there and im baking it right in brownies. DIRTY BROWNIES...If the tincture is any indication they will be stellar.

truth is..if they didnt find a grow..they would not be looking for lights that are not approved.
3/4 of Toronto would have their INS voided from the Italian fixtures installed in the house.
Hell ive even seen a house go up from makin reg oil because the idiot didnt thiink making it inside was a bad idea.
just plain stupidity.

ps INS paid and did not see the oil being made. It was said to be a chicken wing grease fire...

Legal yes, but that only goes so far. For example if your landlord does not want you to grow in the unit, you can't. Just like no smoking no pets, youll be seeing no growing lol.

Similarily it will play out with insurance companies. They will say there is an added risk, and that that activity must be disclosed. Then your premium will go up by a good $500 for the year I bet.

I was pretty stupid when I was 19 myself. Was boiling down a nice big bowl of iso on a gas stove. Could see those fumes building up, went to blow on it, POOOOF! that bowl turned into liquid flames which I proceeded to move of the stove and then drop, after which all the liquid flames were over my arms and legs and countertops and cupboards.
Managed to put it all out with minor damage, then took the bus to the hospital. There ya have it, a first-hand account of stupidity.

Live and learn. At least you learned from your mistakes.

The bud in the profile pic...that panama malawi is dry enough to smoke but needs to cure.

All I can say is wow. I finally understand why people wait 6 months to grow a real landrace sativa. The smell and the flavor is really unlike anything I have ever had. It is crazy strong but in a very cerebral way. Maybe the most creative strain i have ever smoked.

And the taste. Wow. Aroma like haze on steroids with other strange and exotic smells.

I am growing that bad boy in a tent. I have a spare one for just such an emergency. I highly recommend that ace seed.

Happy with my new self made cloner. 100% success with my 4 stains 48 clones. And they were big clones. 13 days for all of them to root. Super simple design. Picked up some 4$, 360 degree irrigation sprinklers from Rona and fit them into 1/2 inch piping in a tee. A 30$ pump and away I go. Never have I rooted clones this large in 13 days before so I'm pretty happy. The hydro store wanted 400 dollars for a 48 port machine.
