That hand shit is stupid, put a thermometer at the top of your canopy to see what the temp is. If it's over 83 it's too hot in my opinion i have my 250 watt hps about 9inches above my canopy and my temps are 78 at the top of the canopy. Here's a chart that you can use to measure the distance.

That in my opinion is dumb. I keep my hps as close as possible to get them as much light as possible and although the temps may go into the lower 90-95 range sometimes when its hotter outside and they grow much faster than when i still believed all those silly little myths and kept them farther away. if youve got good air circulation its not a problem at all. Nature doesnt always give the plant perfect temps and they seem to do just fine out there.......

That's true, but the beauty of growing indoors is that you can provide perfect growing conditions. But like i said in my opinion it's too hot, everyone grows different though. +rep for the input

Oh yea +rep back at ya fabfun.

Thanks Fab, I've heard of the hand method and makes sense. good luck on the street light, let me know if it works.

Again not a temp thread, but you make a valid point. However high temperatures can be overcome with CO2 and good circulation. In fact I'm starting to think CO2 is a necessity for thick hard nugs.

And + rep to all for answering my call for help. THANKS GUYS

The SUN is the perfect light, the light the plants evolved under - little lamps are dim in comparison and far from perfect. No one ever got a pound a plant with CFLs.

Thats true, but not true. No question the sun beats the hell out of any artifical lighting mankind currently has, but say if i were to make a well controlled enviroment greenhouse using natural lighting it would do better than if i didnt have it in a controlled optimal enviroment under natural lighting, so he's right on that part that one of the biggest strengths of indoor growing is you can perfect your conditions for optimal growth, but your correct about its weakness as well.
