My buddy's just been on the phone, and asked me if i thought a 250w hps bulb would work in a 150w hps ballast fixture that he has 'liberated' from an old factory they were knocking down....
Never tried it, or even thought about it.
What do you guys think??? yay or nay?
I doubt it'd even ignite the bulb, or the Ballast will fail, from repeatedly trying to fire the bulb.

bad idea im sure. Besides what does a 150 watt hps bulb really cost??? $9.99 worth burning the house down?? Even if it did light right up, would you feel safe going out? What about sleeping?

Thats what i said, i personally think the ballast will fail real fast.
I def think theres a HUUUGE fire risk, from this, i just told him to buy a son-t plus 150w and see how he gets on..

The bulb will probably strike and glow, but your friend won't get any benefit out of it, as it won't produce any more lumens than a 150. It's also not good for the bulb, and will greatly reduce it's life.
