i have plants under 1000w metal halide 24/7 for nine days. i bumped my ballast and it went out and now the bulb will not fully light up. i cant get a new ballast untill tomorrow, and that will be about 26 hours without hid. will this have a longterm effect on plants. should i at least leave the house bulb on or leave them in darkness?

It shouldnt hurt but i would leave some type of light on. Better to have not enough light then to change their cycle

thanks bro i was going to leave the half lit hid on it but i dont want to fuck up my bulb
Safety first dude!

If your lamp/ballast is not working properly don't run it.

Any light will do for one night.

One night of darkness will not trigger flowering surely?

And are you sure it's the ballast that is broken and not the bulb?

Hehe "Puts the thought in her head" has got me tickled

Fair enough bro I can't argue with that ;)

A little light it is, any light will do tho.

Check that the bulb is screwed into the base properly. I've had a similar situation happen before, and after tightening the bulb, it magically fixed itself. :-P
