Sphagnum pete is very acidic add some dolomite lime to it to fix that or youll have a ph of like 4.5-5. It happened to me and I almost killed all my plant before someone on here told me that Spagnum Pete is very acidic. Added some dolomite lime on top of the soil and worked it in with my fingers and they cam right back to life and are now enormous plants. 2 tbsp per gallon of soil. Good Luck.

Hi Chief,
As Cpappa said the phagnum can be very acidic depending on source. Ranges as low as 3 to 4 and possibly even lower. But ganja likes it acidic. You might check runoff water and don't be too aggressive correcting water/nutrient solution. Neutral or even a tad basic might be a good thing with that medium.

airbong,
Peat moss and Spagnum peat moss are actually two different plants. Regular peat moss like the peat pucks are made of have a much higher ph...still acidic but just a guess ph 6. So if that's what you used...you should be ok. Was it loose and damp and dark brown in the bag? That's peat moss.

For clones I use the Formula 77 potting soil one part to perlite two parts. Or maybe one to one. I use Jiffy Mix to fill the hole because it is so light. Don't know about planting from seeds though. Kind of itching to try white widows and wish I could find someone with a clone.

Well ripe maybe we can do something about that clone issue in the future :D and no my peat moss was nice and dry and fresh. Light brown not dark at all its mg peat moss but I sifted all the nutrient balls out of the soil and it seems to work just fine
