2nd Grow, 3rd attempt. Aeroponic, T5 / HPS, DP Blue Berry and others...

After several disasters, I'm on my 3rd attempt with DP Blueberry. This time around I've got a few other strains in the mix. Running 2 Aero systems (14 sites each). The 1st system has 10 Power Skunk and 4 Big Buds (none of them are feminized). In the other system I've got 14+/- BB (a few might be screwed), 2 Alaskan Ice (1 already died from the pump being left off for 12 hrs), and 3+/- Mazar. It's a little disorganized right now, but I'm going to get things straight this week. GH 3 part nutrients, B-52, superTHRIVE, h2o2. pH is kept around 5.8 - 6.3. Tank temp's are a little high-- running at 24^c in the power skunk aero and 22.8^c in the BB aero. Under the T5's the temp is 76+/- a few degrees. Humidity is an avg of 51%. I'm going to try and bump that up to 70%.

The 1st pic is of a Alaskan Ice after the pump accident, the 2nd is the Blueberry after the accident, and the 3rd is the aero system housing the Power Skunks / Bid Buds with all the shitty problems looking hobo's.

Just shut down the powerskunk / big bud aero. A brown sludge had developed and the root rot was irreversible. I drained the blueberry aero, cleaned it out because the same sludge was forming. Treated it with some h2o2, brought it to 200 ppm on the gro chek, and took the foam pads out from underneath the tank so the res is now sitting on cool concrete. I'm thinking the 25+^c res was promoting pathogen growth. Introducing some voodoo juice tonight.

Rearranged a few things (mainly the lights which raised the temp under the lights to 80^f and humidity to +/- 68%) and added some voodoo juice (15ml) to the approximately 15 gal res. Hoping this will help speed things up a bit.

Pictures go up the right side, down the middle, and up the left side.

Added some pics of the sludged up res and tray from the power skunk aero. What a fucking mess man.

It is amazing what a little Voodoo Juice will do for some recovering seedlings. I'll post some pictures of what the roots look like tomorrow. Signs of growth up top though, are slim to none, but the tap roots are starting to branch out which is great. I'm guessing they'll be back on track soon.

ONE MAJOR error that I've been making and corrected is with mixing my 3 parts nutrient solution into the res. I'm now doing the following to prevent any further nutrient lock-out.

  1. GH Flora Micro goes into res solution 1st--I didn't read that, doh! ALWAYS READ! WHY didn't I read.
  2. GH Flora Glo next, but only after waiting for 20 minutes at least for the Micro to fully dissolve into the solution. 20 mins might be over kill, but I'm not trying to cut corners right now, I just want to grow some mind altering fun and do it right.
  3. GH Flora Bloom last. Same 20 minute wait before added Bloom to the mix.
I would love to know if anyone has had some experience with General Hydroponics Subculture-M and Subculture-B. I'm really impressed by Voodoo Juice, but it is just so damn expensive.

***Fucking co2 regulator's solenoid jammed open awhile back so I slowly turn the tank knob a little every now and then to push out some co2 until the pressure in the tank falls and is not strong enough to push the little green ball up anymore, than I repeat. Gotta get a new regulator! Damn thing is only 1 yr old. My controller reads an avg of 800 PPM right now. I'm not willing to risk doing what I'm doing right now to raise it any higher. I have fresh air coming in at approx. 150 cfm through a 6 in diameter duct approx 20 ft long to mix with the leaking co2. This will insure me that the room won't flood with co2. Just thinking out loud at this point....

I screwed up the order some when attaching images. Not really the point. I just want to show how fucked up they were and all the new growth coming off the near dead tap roots.

This grow journal has become a testimonial for beneficial bacteria. The following pics show extreme root mass growth. Compare them to the pics I took only a few days ago.

Reminder to self. Separate plants that are in the same pot sooner. I might screw them up now when I go to separate them because their roots are all jumbled up! Grrr.

Last night I bumped the nutrient levels up to 408-415 ppm and they seem to be taking it. Res temps got up to 24^c since I had my tent zipped up to keep the co2 in (which has been at 1200ppm for the past few days), but I don't see any algae / pathogen growth so screw it, the mycorrhiza seem to enjoy it.
