2'x2' GrowLab GL60 Tent Setup Questions - First LED Grow - Setup Questions

Hi everyone,

So recently I purchased a GrowLab GL60 grow tent which measures 24"x24"x63" as it was the perfect fit for my closet. I have a small bedroom and this was all the space I could afford for my growing project sadly. I have grown a few times before, once indoors and a few times outdoors so I have the general idea on how to keep my plants generally healthy and happy but this is going to be my first all in grow. My original plan was to run a 400w HPS cool tube system but after a lot of thinking and researching I have decided to give LEDs a try (I know a lot of people will swear by there H.I.D. systems but I would rather not burn my place down and don't want to draw to much power as I have roommates and we split the electricity bill - they are cool with it as long as they get some dank buds ). I bought an ISIS-FX1 170w 11 spectrum grow light which seemed to have all the right credentials and none of that eBay china bullshit that has caused everyone to hate LEDs. I will also be supplementing with two 2' sunblaze floros. My plan is to do custom DWC buckets with fast feminized autoflowering strains. As of right now I have 8 different feminized autoflowering beans and 4 built DWC buckets. Each bucket is a 10in diameter 2 gallon bucket and four of them fit perfectly inside my little tent, the problem is will my plants have enough room? I have read over and over again that each plant needs a minimum of 1sq ft and that's exactly what each will be getting, but does anyone think this is going to be too little space? Should I drop it down to 3 plants? 2 plants?

Any help will be greatly appreciated and if you can wait a week or two I will have a grow journal up and running once I get everything figured out.

theres plenty of room for the plants. but its the lumens per sq ft you have to figure out i think its roughly 5500 lumens per sq ft needed so get your led light manufacturers book out and have a look and see what its says the light will do. that should answer your question. i would go for less is more with led dont over crowd and find you have 6 shitty plants rather the 2 or 3 decent ones. but thats imo other guys will have more input mate.

fuck me if i see Lumens per sq ft anymore when talking about LED's im going to kill someone. Lumens DONT MEAN SHIT. PAR is what your plant reacts to Lumens are for HUMANS. Now back to business....... Your light is fine for the setup you are in. I would place 2-3 max in there for that though. What autoflowers did you get? I just got in my order from short seeds and flash seeds. I have a total of 750 watts of led in my 4x4 tent and will be only placing 6 autos in there in 3 gallon smart pots from seed. If you want people to actually care about your autoflower journal i suggest autoflower.net as this is where quite a few of us LED guys are going so that we dont get hate anymore for not being able to handle all the heat from HID systems.

I just purchased the exact same grow tent.. I went with a 150 watt HPS fixture, I have a 4" intake duct booster, and a 4" high velocity fan and carbon filter combo from htg supply that vents out. With the space im just gonna keep it simple and go with 2 or 3 plants for personal use. my tent stays around 81* and when the light is off it drops too around 70-73*. just make sure you have good intake air coming in.. zazahzle: Thanks for the input, just like you this is all for fun and personal use only. I was going to originally go with a 400w HPS but man with the space I had is was going to be hard to run the ducting and extra fans for a cool tube. What kind of yields have you been able to get from 2 or 3 plants in that guy? +rep for the help!! thanks

Also one more quick question for you zazahzle, with that 4" high velocity fan and carbon filter do you have any smell issues at all? The grow lab tent has a lot of open areas around the zippers other parts and I was wondering if the 4" fan is enough to make sure no air escapes except for through the carbon filter?

man im not far enough into my grow to really answer the smell question. As far as it's ratings, and everything I have read it is more than enough for our size grow space. it really helps with temp control as well. with as much force as the fan has it creates a vacuum if the tent is closed assuring no leaks, and all the exhaust running through the filter.. I would say if you gotta cover the smell up, then this is a must have.


this is my first grow with this set-up.
