Good day my fellow stonies

It is again that time of year in Canada where we submit are tax's, and hopefully this year i get a nice big fat return :)
every year Ive gotten over a 1000 so im hoping this year will be the same.
technically this will be my 2nd grow but my last grow was weak so i try not count it. this idea was a run off of albfuckt's perpetual grow and
Ive already searched for the best prices through the best deals thread and some of my own searching and have composed a pretty solid shopping list.
and it goes like...

before shipping costs and what not

and here's an idea of what im picturing

so a couple questions, i need a tent that would suit this grow but cant find anything cheap enough for the size i wanna go, the totes are 22gallons each
so i suppose all 4 could fit in a 5x5?
(just flowering room)
figuring this part out is were my head does circles. i cant put number's to the length's in my mind and come to a conclusion. it would be nice if i had the tote's already so i could do my measurements and id be good.. tht might have to be the case... my mother/clone room id like to be the same size as my flower chamber just for convenience so what im looking at 10x5x6? if i put those in the right order lol, 10 feet long, 5 feet wide and 6 feet high for the entire tent.
i was gonna section it off in between the tent with Velcro and black and white poly, its be nice if it had 2 doors on
opposite sides of the tent now that i think of it for shear fact i could seal it up completely in the middle and wouldn't worry about making some Velcro door in between rooms and have to worry about light leaks and what not... im ordering three 6" 400 cfm fans one for hot air exhaust for the lights, one to bring fresh air from a crawl space and another one for the carbon srubber, is this effective?
what i mean by efffective is this the most optimal setup for three fans for heat exhaust and dealing with smell and fresh air. i thought so..
remember this will be somewhat of a budget grow but i do want a complete setup so to speak. i realize there are some things missing from the list like ph/ppm meter, nutes, pvc for the tubs and
so on.. but these will be bought locally unless you guys know of anything cheap enough feel free to post it..

so i re-op'd it kinda.. took somethings off and put some new things on the list.. trying to go as cheap as possible and this is the best setup i could think of for yield vs efficiency...
so ultimately the setup goes like this

1 - 5x5x6 grow hut(flowering room)
1 - 2x4x5 grow hut(mother and clone room)
4- 2'x2' aeroponic tubs, cover's which the net pot's will sit in will be made from Duramount foam board
2 - 600w hps in cool tubes
4 - 4" In-line fans, one for the light exhaust, one for the charcoal filter/exhaust and two for fresh air to each tent
1 - T5 2Ft/4-Tube Designer (6400K) for the mothers
4 - Rubbermaid tubs - 3 for the res's. and 1 will be used as a DWC tub for the moms
and a bunch more shit that's all in the shopping list which ill show after the picture ideas i drew up in paint for you guys..hopefully it might make things a bit easier and i can get some advice already lol

the reason for the week 1-2 tub and the week 2-4 tub being connected is that way i can give them a set based amount of nutrients for those weeks, and still also allows me to up the nutrients for week 5-6 and then use a flush for week 6-8.
ive read through al. b's guide already (took awhile :s ) and he said a flush isnt necessary his buds burn clean and he runs a high ppm through out his tubs from start of flower till end)
but i like the idea of flushing my weed so i just wanted to op the setup that way.
i also wanted to do aeroponics just because of the fast results and yields ive seen throughout riu.
but yea comment on my grow idea's and coin me in on your thoughts about this setup
ill be getting the money soon and am serious about getting a perpetual grow going..
o yes and the updated shopping list.. feel free to add some better retailer links with cheap equip. to if yea know any thnxss ;)

Looks like you've got everything pretty well thought out jin i like the detail, im in the process of doing a similar type setup so i'll be watching.

All depends on how you're setup in the room.

The prices you found are pretty cheap and i'd go for it except the cycle timer is pricey, go at wal-mart and look at the power bar digital timer, i got one for 15$ (7 ON/OFF cycles, 7 Days).

If the smell is an issue for you, even with a carbon filter you want to create a negative air pressure in the room to ensure no air leaks. You want the carbon filter to suck more air than the intake pushes some in.

With the rockwool you want to make sure you have plenty of water in you reservoir to avoid ph battle. Even with a RO filter rockwool will keep rising ph in the system.

thanks man , once i file my tax's (2 more weeks :D) ill be ordering like crazy, gotta find a friend that will let me use his address to ship to... or is it that big of deal? i just dont want all these people droppin box's off at my soon to be house of greenery lol idk.... i know for seeds its kinda a big deal but grow equipment? anyways

thnxs for the seed links Joe appreciated, one strain haven't had the pleasure of smoking. same goes for all diesel strains. bc seeds up'd the cheese seeds again ugghhh. sooo i think im gonna order from niravana now... papaya and snow white :)
see how thy do iin a 8 week hydro cycle
they say its a 9-ll month flower'er for both
but im sure that's only the case because of being grown outdoors in soil.

and thanks more exhaust than intake, i was wondering about that.
and is it ok if i exhaust my veg room air through the cool tube exhaust?
or will this ultimately make it hotter through the cool tube exhaust leading to higher temps in the flowering room?
or is it not that big of a deal really?

It depends on how hot the cooltube intake air is? My cooltube sucks the winter cold air from outside and the blown back air at the exaust of the cooltube is still pretty cool and i use it as my fresh air intake as well.

But in the summer time i'll have to re setup the ducting as the outside air will be too hot to cool my lights so i will be taking the fresh air from the A/C.

right, i guess its one of those wait and see problems. you use it for fresh intake into your tent too? i guess you split your dryer hose? one to the lights one to your room. what cfm fan do u use for your intake? how much do u think would be good for a 5x5?. i know the links ive chosen to get from are for 4" fans ( they wre cheaper than the 6"), the 6" fans on the same site are for a bit more, but blow 500 cfm. but for some reason i thought that was a bit much. and i thought just cause my dryer hose and cool tubes is 6" doesn't mean i cant rig it up to 4 inch fans lol
the 4 inch fans i want to order are a little over 200 cfm is this all around good enough for appropriate exhaust and intake? like i said i just wanted to go the cheaper route but i mean if its ineffective id rather just avoid it lol

is summer time i guess your best bet is a crawl space eh? usally stays cool under the house. i guess really depends on where you live. thnxs for writin back bro

you really dont need a seperate fan for the carbon filter you could run your filter then ur duct work to ur cool tubes then out where ever ur exausting ur air and it cools ur lights and cleans the air leaving the tent at the same time thats how i have mine and it works pretty good but it looks like ur set once you get ur funds good luck ill be checking back every now and again

ok, i think i see what ur saying attach the fan to the carbon filter and have it exhaust my room and my lights all in one. thnx man that actually seem way more efficient, but now i gotta find a way to get veg tent exhausted. umm question is it possible to just exhaust from the veg tent . you know just exhaust no fan bringin air in. i mean i can see how it would be good but i can see its really just another fan running that doesnt need to be. i mean its a small tent and fluorescent's dont really put of that much heat. enough heat that the exhaust would be able to keep temps down im thinking.. just an idea i guess. thnxs tho and yea keep checkin back it shouldn't take to much longer i hope. l8r days

Ditch the second light and get a light mover. Your totes are about 25" x 19", arrange them in a long rectangle instead of a square. My garden is 8' x 3' with one 600 watt HPS.

http://www.lightrail3.com/garden/LR5.php

.

If you can build with wood instead of buying a tent you can mock up a grow cage pretty quick. I built this cage out of scrap wood I had around the house, I just bought the plywood floor and the Reflextic.

.

You don't need walls if you have Reflextic. You can roll up the walls and get to your plant from any side.

now that's efficient!!!
funny this is for me is it had came to my mind about getting a light rail but passed it off as a waste of money. but i didn't look at it that way of just keeping the garden 3 feet wide and just expand it lenghth wise. then id surely scrap the other light. and 3 x 8 would be perfect for me as well

also at first i had changed my mind about getting those totes and found semi-cheap 3x3 flood trays ($73.00 each) & and i was gonna make it in to an aerotub. but now that you showed me this im running with ideas lol. one thing that didnt mesh with me is the fact that walls lift up. its great access but it defeats the purpose of making a sealed room so smell doesn't escape, reason why i kinda wanted to fit a charcoal filter and tents in the budget. . tht refletix material looks amazing man! it almost makes me want to make my own room. i know you didnt really pay for the wood other than the plywood but what do u think a 8x3 room would cost in matieral. i can build it that shouldn't be a problem, im just not recent with prices of wood and shit. maybe u are? cause then id just make my own tent . seal off the outside with poly all around the frame and then just put up the refletix inside. maybe ill make it 4 x 8 then so at least i got some walking room.

thanks for this post and some new idea's to think about, really helpful man
peace :leaf:

"its great access but it defeats the purpose of making a sealed room so smell doesn't escape, reason why i kinda wanted to fit a charcoal filter and tents in the budget."

I've got 18 strains in two rooms with one fan and charcoal filter and no smell. I vent some of the oxygenated filtered air into my hot air heating ducts to keep the house smelling good and lots of O2. By blowing clean air out of my grow room it creates a low pressure system, sucking in air with more CO2 from the rest of the house and no smell escapes. Actually little smell escapes the cage itself for the same reason, low pressure inside and air goes in through all the openings, not out.

If you want to pump air out of the room you either have to have your charcoal filter outside the room or build a simple chamber. I put my Can Filter in a large tub and covered it in plastic and duct tape, cut in some ducting holes.

.

"im just not recent with prices of wood and shit. maybe u are?"

2"x4" good one side 0.98
2"x4" good both sides 2.00
Plywood 8'x4'x1" = $60.00
Reflextic 4'x50' = $128.00
Flexible Ducting = $30.00

.

"maybe ill make it 4 x 8 then so at least i got some walking room."

Make it only big enough so that the outside edge of your garden will get the light required - 50 Watts/sq foot.

why do u say that?

cause of visibilty? i didn't think it made that much of a difference

but good call i suppose it would fit in the tent
because your fan will pull through the filter more efficiently than it will push through it

lol srry my friend, i should of browsed through your grow before i stated that. my bad. i felt pretty dense reading your post just now because i had to read it a couple times before it actually clicked in my head. too much :joint: maybe haha who knows.
but from what ive gathered just to be clear, to create a low pressure system i need to scrap the intake and instead have the fan on the carbon filter sucking the oxygenated air from the flowering room and then to be exhausted through the lights out to wherever would be beneficial, and from that sucking motion in the chamber will cause the co2'd air from the house to get drawn back into your grow space. kinda of like a way to keep cycling free co2 to your plants but yet effectively dealing with smell and also giving you some clean oxygen for your troubles\:hump:
what is that....like 3 birds with one stone?
marvelous lol
4 birds for me considering i was about buy 4 fans:?
thanks a shitload man i feel way more informed now about efficient ventilation.
And since the tent does not have to be completely sealed like i had thought the roll up walls sound more than ideal now.
i thought the room needed to be sealed otherwise making the fans and carbon filter less effective which might let smell escape. i guess i was just looking at it from the wrong perspective.

you have now officially made me re-op my grow. ill be working on a new blueprint with yet again another re updated shopping list and hopefully i can create myself an effective / productive garden.

and also thanks for the wood prices, thats actually pretty cheap. other than the reflectix but i guess that's to be expected.

also +rep man :D

Hey Jinro. How do you like your Hagen Optima air pump? Is it quiet? I'm looking for something that's about as powerful, but quiet enough that my wife won't hear it through a closet door. (She can't sleep with any significant noise.)
Thanks.
