3 4oo watt lights over 4x4 tray vs 1 1000 watt?

I currently have 3 400 watt lights over a 4x4 ebb and flow SOG style.
should I invest in a 1000 watt HPS?
I would think the 400 watters could penetrate enough on 12" plants and give a better spread of light vs 1 1000 watt, any input?

If your 3 400w lights are HPS or MH you have way more then enough. You will have better light penetration with 3 and a added benefit, you can keep 400w lights closer to the plants.

your currently useing the dutch method.. 400 watt SOG style... 430 bulbs would be ideal for maximizing lumens to watts.. but your ballast would need to accept them. look into it.. i think you got the right idea.. if anything you could probably add another 3x3 flood table
