3 days dark before harvesting?

had a guy tell me to flush for 7-10 days and then unplug the lights and let them go 3 days in the dark before harvesting. just curious if this is some good information or if this is just someones point of view. let me know what you guys think. thanks

hey there shmokie- i do 5 gallon bucket dwc and i usually flush the final 5-7 days with just ph'd water. if in soil maybe a little longer. if your nutrient levels aren't high you don't need a prolonged flush. i've heard of the dark before harvest theory. i don't do it and i've never heard of any commercial grows that do it. does it hurt? probably not. here's a good link on the flushing theory:https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-truth-about-flushing.409622/

I've gone with and without 3 days dark before just to see, and can't really say I noticed a big difference, although I didn't do it enough times to get conclusive results.

12 hours of darkness is all it takes for the plant to use up the majority of the starch it stored for the night. Any more than 12 hours of darkness seems pointless to me. I'm not sure how big of a difference it actually makes in the long run, but I cut before the lights come on to reduce starch.

ive already unplugged my lights so i guess ill cut them down tonight. i have a drying box which has 3 screens in it that you lay the buds on and a fan on the bottom to pull the air out i was wondering if i should hang dry for a few days and then put them in the box or if its alright for me to put them on the screens after i trim?

If your humidity is lower than 50% then do not use a fan. Give them a dark place 5-7 days (trimmed) 5-12 days (not trimmed) hanging upside down. Once you can snap stems you can jar them up and burp daily
