3 gallon vs 5 gallon

So i'm using Canna Coco for my medium and my 3 plants just sprouted, Super Lemon Haze, Lemon Skunk and Rocklock. I've only grown once before (currently week 7 of flowering) and they are in 5 gallon pots. I wanted to ask about the switch because of the amount of soil/coco and water for feeding and especially flushing is getting a bit much. Also my Blueberry only grew about 2 feet and my other two plants came in just under and just over 3 feet. I was told its usually a gallon per foot of plant. So would 3 gallon still give them plenty to work with and produce the same kind of yield?

thats a rule of thumb for every verticle foot you want atleast 1 gallon of medium. so if you expect your plants to get to 5 feet you want atleast a 5 gallon pot. its not i have a five gallon pot so my plants will peak out at 5 feet. a 3 foot plant needs 3-5 gallons of medium in a soil/soiless grow, if you follow that rule. i have two indicas that are in 5 gallon pots but they will peak out at 2.5 to 3 feet tall.

root system should do fine in a 3 gal but 5 gal wont hurt, yes your plants are using more water but that just adds for a more stable plant
