I get some but not much. I change the res out and clean it every 2 weeks though with keeps it down. I intend on replacing most of them with one large 55gal res soon. The ones that are left I will paint black. BUt as they are algae has not been much of a bother.

Hey buddy, just came across your thread. Dig the DIY nature as I am a huge DIY guy myself. Couple comments that may help (cause everyone has opinions 
)
1. Dilute your PH down before you put it in the tank!! Like 10:1. It easier to adjust the ph (cause your just pouring it in cause it has less of an affect) and more importantly, your not causing nutrients to drop out of suspension by adding EXTREMELY acidic fluid to your rez. Those little grey clouds when you add straight ph adjuster.. those are expensive nutrients going bye bye.
2. You might want to change out your rez every week around weeks 3-6 of flower. The plants suck up ALLOT of nutes in diproportionate amounts and things can get locked out pretty quickly. On the other hand, I make my 50 gallon rez last a month during early veg.
3. Wash and SOAK your hydroton for at least a couple days to stabilize the PH.
4. Don't let your PH get above 6.5 before you knock it back down if you can help it.
5. painting plastic is a mother fucker and it takes ALLOT of paint to do it. Wrap them in some panda film and call it good.

I just changed over to bucket ebb/flow and had to paint 18 4 gallon buckets to make them opaque. took like three god damned coats and if I scrap them the paint comes right off. Latex jut doesn't stick to plastic. Dawned on me to just wrap them, it works very well

Dude, your basically using the same size closet that I am. definitely going to build the same set up except im just going to buy a tray instead of drilling the holes myself. Not sure if you mentioned it yet but what size pumps do you run in your rez? Also I think you said you had fifteen 6 inch net pots in a 2x3 table? do you still get plenty of air circulation with that many in the tray? I see hydroton but are you putting them in rockwool as well? how many times a day do you flood your tables and how long do you flood for?
I run 396GPH Pumps. I have not had any issues so far using the 15 6" netpots as far as air cirulation is concerned. The pots are filled with hydroton but I do not use rockwool. WHen I take my clones I place them in rapid rooters and once rooted I place the whole thing (clone and rapid rooter) right into the netpot. I run my pumps for 15 mins each hour during light on period and 15 mins every two hours with lights out. I have a large airstone and huge airpump putting lots of o2 into my tanks. ALso the hydroton does not hold a lot of water so I get away with flooding the trays as much as I do.

Thank god, I hate dealing with rockwool trying to condition it. Do you have any issues with over saturating the rapid rooter plugs? I guess since you trim off the lower 1/3 of the plant with sog you dont have to worry about air circulation lower on the plant, my bad. Any issues with the roots growing through the holes in the net pots and getting damaged from exposure to light? or is it such a short grow cycle that it's not long enough for the roots to grow out that much? Jw, Thats the only reason im considering using the square pots with the holes just along the bottom. Thanks for all the answers btw
Have had no issues with over saturating rapid rooters. The plants roots do grow out of the net pots, some of them quite a bit, doesnt seem to cause any problems though and the roots seem healthy. Ill take some pictures of the roots when the lights are on and Ill post them.

Man that seems like ALOT of watering. I guess if it works it works but plants will send out adventitious roots to "search" fro water in times of stress. Something to think about. I water for 15 every 4 hours. There is no need whatsoever to flood when the lights are off. As per the above info, its actually better to let them dry out over night. Hydroton holds some water, especially when the roots starting clinging to it. I forgot to plug in a pump once, went a whole day without watering with no signs of stress.
In terms of light effecting the roots, I cover my entire flood table with panda. Keeps the roots cooler, prevents algae growth, and stops leaves and shit from falling into the flood area.
I like your setup nice and clean. There are some changes I am going to make eventually in this room, this whole system is temporary. Once I save of some more $$ and some of my friends that I provide medicine for donate some more $$$ I am going to redo most of this room.

I really cant belive how much faster the DP Blueberry is growing then all the rest. It is a monster in comparison. Maybe wont be the best for my SOG, White Widow, Shark Attack, LaBlanca, Kannabia Special, Mazar all seem to be staying short and tight.

I love when they explode like that. I have some endless skies that I cloned for the next run. Things took almost 3 weeks to root and now they are growing slowly 
. Really bums me out as ill probably have to veg them in the flower room for a couple weeks now

I forgot who told me this but it works well. Put your rocks in a colander and run them threw the dish washer like 2Xs and you are done. No more wild ph beast to deal with.
