My vertical 315s with a philips 3100k bulb measures higher par readings than my horizontally positioned 630w true double ended 3000k cmh from growers choice @ equal distances. The 315 covers 3x3
So double the wattage use yet lower par readings than the vertcal 315s.. In all honesty, no bias, the only conclusion I can draw there is the significant difference in vert vs horiz.
I think the shape of their hood has allot to do w/ it & may just change the readings you're comparing using a different horizontal fixture. But to get the same from a 630 DE as the vert 315 is kind've crazy. Just a center reading right?
Lol, fuzzy logic, aptly named "feature"........tell us what your sensing through a lamp cord again? Cmh arc degrades per fire , like all hid bulbs. Idk how your doubling lumen maintenance, I smell something...

I'm not getting into reflector design, but cycloptics tech vert one tested highest of all (Utah state)? . Remember still over half the bulb is getting losses with hort positioning, plus 3< output loss and spec shift vers vert==Elite agro run optimally in vertical positioning, ask Phillips., Ask nate at growers house which 315 w ballast/ bulb combo tests highest again and again.

Run it vert bare bulb if you're an efficiency whore & deal with the pita room setup; )
I said the same thing. FuzzyLogic. Reading up on other low freq sq wave ballasts, they a seam to do the same. soft start, compensated power for bulb, ect....
Idk. Maybe there's more to it I'm not getting.
Been so focused on led for so long I'm out of the loop.

Yeah I'm not a fan of their hoods, fairly small. But yeah that is a reading from directly below at equal distances, starting at 18". I used 2 315s and the one de 630 over a 9x4 and bought a par meter so I could compare all the different types of lights I have(also have hps/mh and blurples), highest par readings I got were highest to lowest as follows, 315s, 600hps, 630de cmh, blurples, 600mh, t8 flouro's.

1. When comparing PPF of vertical and horizontal bulbs, you have to use the same ballast , same bulb.
2. The testing equipment should be an integrating sphere spectroradiometer.

How does a constant power ballast work? How does a CMH arc degrade per fire?

What interior size should a 315W reflector/hood be? At 18", how large does your 315W cover?

So im asking this on behalf of a friend who doesnt do forums, will post in a few of the knowledgeable CMH threads. Hes looking at a deal for Lumii LEC (same as cmh, right?) Ballasters, 315w at 100 euros each, and he can get cheap phillips bulbs as well. Any pros or cons on this specific setup? Cant find very much info on Lumii anywhere but i believe the ballaster being squarewave or not, and the bulb hanging horizontal or vertical are important. Not too interested in sales pitches for other lights/ballasters, were in Spain so many of the us options arent around. Price is important too, as there are about 20 x 600 hps that cant run this summer due to heat, even with cool tubes.
Also looking into leds were i am much more knowledgeable but there i kind of narrowed it down already. Any ideas? Sorry for not having more details, will try to get back with that.

Please ask our customers how good our light is. Many of them used other lights (HPS/MH, LED and other brand CMH) before they purchased our CMH.
This is the closed Facebook group. Thanks!

It might be here somewhere but what is the coverage of your 315 and 630 lights ?

They look pretty nice to me. The more I look at them the more i see possibility. Like a 630 run at 400 for a 4 x 4 etc.

We have many CMH lights and they have different coverage.
315W non dimming: 3x3
315W IR remote dimming: 3.5x3.5 (at 350W)
315W knob dimming: 4x4 (at 400W)
630W dual 315 IR remote dimming: 3.5x7
630W double ended: 5x5CMH-315FR 900x900-01.jpg CMH-315FN 900x900-01.jpg CMH-630W DE Fixture.jpg CMH-315KF-1.jpg CMH-630F DU.jpg

Thank you! That actually helps. It pretty much confirms what i found, nobody knows and nobody uses them. Not really a resounding vote of confidence. Ill tell my friend, he is already literally married to the idea of getting these since he gets deals at his growshop. Ill suggest he tries them on a small scale to see hoy he likes cmh tech and what bulbs he might like. Ill recommend he gets a better known brand if he decides to go fullscale. @SunPlix CMH you rep the sun system cmh?

My advice would be that I strongly recommend going with a well known brand when it comes to lighting. Lighting of coarse is everything when it comes to growing, some things you can skip on but id fork out the extra cash when it comes to lighting

Thx guys. In the end it aint my grow nor my cash, im only trying to find out for a friend. I want him to at least have aome contrast to advice from his growshop. I think the Lumii brand is part of the Hydrogarden brand, which i think might be better known, ring any bells? As for price, what would be an ok price for a 315 kit, and how much for a 315 phillips bulb?
