3oz Dixie Cups

Hello, I want to start some seedlings in 3oz Dixie cups (unwaxed), its because of the quantity that I am going to be starting with. The space is limited, along with lights. My big question is how big can I let them grow in 3oz cups before the roots really start to tangle and really make the plants want to kill themselves off. 2-3 weeks? Have anyone really researched this or tried it first hand, anything in a really small cup really. If they really wont get far in 3oz, I guess I can use 10-16oz Styrofoam, but I want to stay away from that size IF possible. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :peace::bigjoint: I want to keep them inside a couple weeds before replanting them outside.

I think a week after it sprouts would be fine. After that would be questionable.

Look in here for the party cup threads, Shit, they grew some insane plants out of 16oz cups and never transplanted!!!

I know the 16oz would be fine for a nice while. Wanting to use 3oz because right now not a lot of soil, but MAY get more in a week and then I dont REALLY need to worry but with the 16oz I'm going to need more lights...if I have 10 in 3oz then I only need 2 and when I go 20 3oz cups then 4 but if I use 16oz...im going to need all my lights on them, and thats my down side :(

They are having a party cup competition on this site...U can grow them in strictly ur dixie cups if the correct measures are taken. I'm a newb so I don't want to pass u to much advice but read around and use the search feature :)

So you need dixie cups because of dirt and light limitations right now?

I think they will be fine for a week or two and thats about it.

Good luck.

2-3 weeks was what I was thinking. I will by hand check the roots every so often inside the cup tho. So I should be ok for awhile :)
