3rd day Preflower!

Ok, so my first strain has some nice preflowers now. 3rd day in, and I was wondering what I should be doing for my plant right now. This is my first year growing and am not sure what to do. The plant has minor problems, N deficiency, causing some lower leaves to turn yellow. Not a problem, I simply removed those. But I was wondering what I should be doing all around. For a picture of current bud (check avatar).

So my first attempt at growing is a failure

Well, I can start a couple of plants and hope for females, so It's no big deal, but what do you suggest I do with this male?

How would I go about doing that? And are ferminished seeds a Guaranteed female 100%?

Its not a failure mate all plants cant be girls its just the luck of the draw with seeds. Thats why many people buy feminised seeds so the chances of males are reduced. keep trying and you should try planting a few at a time so then you'll have better odds, if you just want one plant and end up with a few females you'll have a selection to choose the strongest of the bunch

Im not sure on the best way to harvest pollen ive never had the need but just search for info and youll find out. feminised arent 100% but if you get a bunch of males from them the seed seller should refund you or something. They are very reliable from what ive read tho. I just get a clone from a friend and keep a mother for each strain so i dont bother with seed usually

Ok, I appreciate the uplift but it's quite unfortunate that the first plant I have ever planted, being an outdoor, moved to indoor, so much work, so much time wasted. But it still is quite a beautiful plant. I may let him grow big and harvest the pollen, possibly make butter. We'll see, thanks for everything though, I just wish I had known it was a male sooner.

Alright thanks. Maybe I will have a friend of mine clone his dad's

what a shame! unless u plan on producing seeds later down the line i would kill that male then go get a pack of "fems" and use what you've learnt from this grow to help you with your "females" in the next grow.sorry man!!

Yes it is, not by your part but still worthless, with that said buy some feminized seeds until you have a few grows under your belt.

Nah I'm just gonna cut it up, and toss it. Get a pack of feminized seeds.

Yeah you got a male and far from 3 days preflower more like 3 weeks.Plant maybe 6 seeds and wait for the males to toss.You did a good job tho on growing it tho.Never plant only 1 seed you will look up in a month and be mad.I planted 6 seeds and i got 2 males 2 herms and 2 females.I would have kept the herms but im not in the seed making business.Good luck on your next try

Thanks man It's just that when I planted I wasn't really just "growing". It was more of a thing just to have the plant. The plant was still quite beautiful, but no use to me if you know what I mean. But I have a question, what is the difference between herms and males and females? I'm new to everything and don't understand the full concept of a herm?

Male plants (like the one you have) plants USUALLY grows faster than female plants and sometimes in early veg has a certain smell to it,they lack branches and mostly only form fan leaves (1 per node not including the fan leaf on the stem) only between the nodes until the preflower forms which looks like 3 tiny balls(club) which when mature enough will open and release pollen and they tend to be less bushy.

Female plants on the other hand are what you are looking for and want,they tend to grow somewhat slower but they have BRANCHES INSTEAD of just a single fan leave like the male plant,when a female plant reaches maturity it will start to preflower and form a calyx (lobster claw) which protrudes 2 white hairs (pistils)(flowers) these pistil are the sex organs of the female plant,they catch pollen and recede back into the calyx to form seeds(this is why u kill males).The plant will begin to throw out more and flowers which ends up becoming the bud we like to smoke so much.

A hermi plant is a plant that has both male and female flowers/balls and can self pollinate it's self and other plants.The down fall of a hermi is they can pollinate your whole crop and the seeds with-in it's self will have hermi genes and most likely be herms too.The up side to it is if you are purposely trying to pollinate other plants with the hermi you will get female seeds(but the seeds in the herm will be herm as i previously explained) and you can still smoke it if this may be your only plant but other than that it would be tossed.
