3RD Time's a Charm- Bagseed and Crazy Clone

So I just finished my 1st grow start to finish, second overall. Because it took almost 4 1/2 months to finish it off I have learned a ton of stuff. By reading a couple basic botany books, Mel Franks book and the help of the RIU community I feel I am ready to tackle another grow.

So after finishing up the last ladies I tore down the cab and gave her a good cleaning with bleach. I also remade my light hood because my footprint is a little bigger with four pots going. My lighting is 350w total with 140w in the 6500k and 210 in the 2700.

I built a new veg cab last month when I started the girls and to keep the clone in. They have been under 180w with 50% 2700 and 50% 6500k. I am trying to get as close to natural as I can with the cfls so thats why the mix of spectrums.

So the girls have been going for between 4 and five weeks(popped on different days) but for this thread we will say 5. easier to keep track of. They got of to a slow start but they are rolling now. Up canned em to 2 gal pots at 2 1/2wks in a mix of 30% BlackGold Organic, 50% BlackGold Moisture Mix(Peat and Coco Choir with Lime and Perlite),10% Perlite, 10% Vermiculite. I have had a problem with the over watering so I wanted to make sure they were draining good. I am Bio-Biz for the new girls because I got it for free as a sample so figured I would give it a try. It is Organic so what the hell. I also topped them 2 days ago to try and keep em short.

Now for the root clone! That's rite, I said root clone. I wrote about her in my https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/309978-just-wont-die.html thread. She has reverted back to full veg and she is going crazy with new growth. I have her LST'd like a mo fo and the are new shoots growing everywhere. I am going to use the Dyna-Gro with her and try to compare the two different nutes.

I plan on flipping them to 12/12 this week but I want to wait a couple more days because I want the clone to relax a little more.

That's about it for now. Here are some pic's for ya. Let me know what ya think.

Keep em green!!!

Thanks for the compliments Riddle. I would look at pics of my plants before and think what the hell is going on. Most of my problem was not understanding what makes em tick and the other was my lack of patience! Probably would have gave up if not for you, UB,MS and any other help I recieved from RIU.

To answer your question, It feels pretty good to be a grower. Still a noob, but with a better understanding of this wonderful plant.

Keepin em green!

Glad to have ya on board MS. Pretty happy with the new batch and yes that freaking clone is going crazy. Her name is Mariska after the Law and Order babe Mariska Hargitay.

Thanks again!

Well the clone is growing so fast I ran out of room. I finished up the upper cab and new light fixture so I figured I would move them into their new home. You can see from the pics they have plenty of room now. I can raise the hood another 24 inches so it should get interesting to see how they fill out.

I started to reduce the time by an hour today and will continue to shorten the time till they hit 12/12 to try not to shock them by the light switch.

I put up some pic's showing the girls and the new light box. I took the doors off and made a curtain of auto sun shade material from the second hand store. Had to piece it together from scraps I had left over from the build. It will have to do till I can find another one at Goodwill or Salvation Army. I stapled it to a 1x1 and it just hang's on some hooks I had. Temps are staying at a comfy 76F and 50% RH.

All comments welcome.

Hey bigman, plants are still looking nice
Are you planning to LST your plants? I recommend it! It's been working wonders for me in my limited grow cube space, plus it makes it so you can create an even canopy for maximizing the buds that usually end up being popcorn buds

Hey WD, Since this is still a learning curve for myself, I have been doing several different things to see what the result is. I have the root clone LST'd big time and I also LST's the pot with two plants. I fimmed one and topped the other three. trying to figure what works best for my cabinet. I still have about 24in. to raise my light so the have good room to grow.
I also have enough suplimental lighting to take care of the sides as they get taller.

Oh ya, forgot to mention they flipped to 12/12 today. They all were fed veg nutes yesterday and they had a nice growth spurt. They are transpiring nicely and are looking realy happy.

Let me know what ya think?

Keep em green!!!

I know its only a couple days but I couldn't resist showing the growth spurt these babies have taken in 3 days.

I sure am glad I took a little time to try and understand these plants. When I started out six months ago, I thought it was as simple as throwing some seeds in the dirt wait 3 months and enjoy. Man was I wrong, somewhat! It is that simple if you understand what they need to achieve maximum output or yield if you will. By replicating what it is that mother nature supplies to these plants, maximum output is the only result that can be achieved. When we fall victim to the hype and marketing, that is when we begin to see the reduction or loss of yield.

I am in no way saying that M/J specific additives and nutrients can not be used successfully, they are and will continue to be used with good results for a long time to come. What I am saying is that it is the sum of all things that contribute to the full potential of a plant and not some super this or awesome that. By taking the time to understand what that total is, we are able to achieve success.

Sorry for the rambling. Smoked some of the last harvest and yum!!! Nice and smooth with a great head high.:bigjoint:

Some pics of the gals for ya!!! That first pic shows how wide they are getting. Those chair arms are 19 inches apart.

Keep em green!!!

Those are ready to explode Bigman :-) Really nice compact training. Keep those updates coming my friend :-)
Thanks for stopping by MS. They are doing great this time around. I have been using the Bio-Biz on them and they just seem to love that stuff. I watered them last night with 2ml of the grow and 2ml of the bloom per gallon. I have been using the Dyna-Gro on the clone but this time I fed them a dose of the B/B also and they seem to love it to. I will get some more pics up this weekend.

So its day 8 today and also my birthday this week and Mother Nature gave me a crqppy birthday present! I thought I was starting to see balls forming but was not entirely sure so I let them go another night and I was correct with my diagnosis. They showed their true colors and 3 of 4 are male . I went over the last one with a fine tooth comb and no balls yet so I am crossing my fingers.

Mariska is doing great! She is realy starting to bush up nicely. I removed her restraints so she is free to stretch out a little and take a deep breath.lol I might just try and take a couple clones off her just to see what happens. Even though she looked so mutated at first, you wouldn't be able to tell now.

I have a couple options with my next move? Start some more beans that came from one of my last girls(3 seeds on the whole plant) and some bagseed from some killa, or just try and get a couple of clones from Mariska. What do ya think?

Here's a couple pics of the male and my other 2 under the lights. All comments welcome!

Keep em green!!!
