3x1000 Vert Setup Phase Advice Please

Well I have been "flat growing" for a few years with 2x600W but with a move coming up I really want to step it up a level. Reason being the house we decide to rent will be rented with this size and style of grow in mind.

The Plan

3x1000W Vert (Probably Octagon Style) flip flop

For now no sealed room don't want the extra electrical usage as I'm already a little worried about how much we will be using with 3k+ 24/7

Medium willl be Sunshine Mix #4. it is what I have always used and don't really want to change. Plants will be in growbags.

Ferts I am undecided but am thinking about Humboldt or H&G.

Going for large amount of small plants. No idea how many yet until I know the ideal size room for these 3k setups. Thinking 150 or so a room?

Strains will be BC God Bud in 1 room and Strawberry Cough in the other. The God bud I am familiar with and I love it and think it will do well with this style grow. The Strawberry Cough I had a chance to try and really liked it so thought would try it out in a room.

Questions to start-

I have been spending alot of time reading about vert growss but still haven't figured out what the Ideal size for the rooms would be. Your thoughts?

I plan on using the 3 lights 1 above the other and in cool tubes. Don't know too much about those tubes yet or diameters they come in. But to cool 3x1000W HPS the inline fan is going to need to be a minimum 6 Inch.

Also I see alot of people running around the same amount of Watts as me but I see nothing on how they have set it up electrical wise. Considering a 1000W pretty much maxes a normal 15amp circuit. So are you guys running your own lines from the breaker box or running cords from other rooms that have seperate circuits?

Also plan on having a small veg room using HO T5s a clone area and a spot for mothers. Not sure how many mothers I am going to need for that money cuttings. I always grew from seed before.

If anybody on here knows anything about Hydro Quebec and if they flag over a certain amount of KWH would be appreciated. I know in BC when I lived there you were fine as long as you paid your bill on time and did not exceed 93kwh a month.

All in all this should be pretty fun to setup and run. Just need to get the room sizes figured out so I know what to look for when we start looking at houses.

You should most definitely run your own line from the breaker in a rental. Who knows what kind of shit is going on behind the walls of an old house? Way easier in the long run and you can set it up to shut the whole thing down at the flip of a switch if the landlord should come knocking. Install a 40a breaker, 8/3 wire to a subpanel (measure that shit for voltage drop), then you can split it there for 120/240 and put your relay for the flipflop right in the subpanel, easy-peasy.

So if you're doing 3 lights stacked, how high would your rooms have to be? Seems like if they'll do 4' flat they'll do 4' vert, so you're going to have a 12' stadium? That's intense.

Yeah I was thinking running my own lines with Romex. Depends on what i find for a house but no matter will need to run at least a few. Thanks for the idea on running to the sub and including the relays..that would be slick. The area for the vert I'm still trying to get my head around..so used to flat grows.

Yeah, I don't know about running 3kw stacked. That would require a 12' stadium; how will you even get up there to work? Seems like the kind of thing you'd run if you had a weird space like a stairwell or a silo, not just average residential rooms. If you do end up doing this though the cooling will be super-efficient, stick that fan on the bottom blowing hot air the way it wants to go, straight up, pretty good setup.

I've never done it but I've seen grows online with just the naked bulbs and 12" fans aircooling, alleyway style, looks like it'd work pretty well. Very space and equipment efficient too especially with a flipflop, you can use the same intake fan for both rooms.

How do you know about that flag for BC hydro?

Been checkin out some bare bulb stadium grows as well they look pretty good. Not sure I like the idea of bare bulbs though. If one fails and pops a fire is almost a guarantee. The flags from BC Hydro I found out about from a friend that worked for them.

bulbs rarely pop they just go out , imagine if it poped in your stacker tube , i grow vert and use parrabolic shades , umbrella style , why are you going the stadium way , you have house hold room space with a flat floor ? your not in a sylo or a hamster in a wheel ???? utilise your space , get some vert hoods if vert is your thing and stop trying to complicate ???
just my bit good luck anyway!

I guess there are some safety issues. I know of one large warehouse grow in my area that lit up because they didn't check in for a few days and the canopy grew right into the bulbs, irrigation also failed and they burned the place down. That's three fuckups though - the watering died, they didn't bother to visit, and they didn't bother to put chicken wire over the lamps. They could have done any of those things and they would have been fine.
